FWIW, I have heard that many freshman parents do not plan to go to Tuesday's meeting. Many are staging a silent protest by not going. There are those that feel it is completely WRONG to be moving freshman and do not want to be at any such meeting identifying a transitional plan. I would expect that there will be a few 8th grade parents though.

I can certainly understand the different points of view and feelings on this one.
Hopefully the ones who genuinely wanted to be in the loop for the transition information will be in attendance so the Administration doesn't get the feeling that putting forth an effort to get information out there was for naught. Heck, I wish I was one of those slated to go there instead of mystery box A.

So the same people that were up in arms about the school not reaching out to them and acknowledging the kids' transitional needs, are now going to stage a silent protest by not attending this special event set up for their kids? Seriously? Listen, I want to give people the benefit of the doubt and I do understand how upset the parents are about everything that has transpired but I do not see this as being helpful to their kids at all. I mean what is the goal? Do they really think if noone shows up the SB is all of a sudden going to rethink the entire process and plan? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Oh make no mistake, THESE ARE NOT THE SAME PARENTS. As a freshman parent with many, many freshmen parent friends, we were NOT the ones asking for transition information. For crying out loud it isn't even the end of the FIRST QUARTER! I would imagine that the people requesting more information would have to be current 8th grade parents as I have not enountered a SINGLE NV freshman parent interested in receiving transition info. this early in the year. Normal freshman orientation doesn't even happen until January but we are all of the sudden going to start looking at the next school year in September (WV Principal's first visit to NV) and October? Give me a break! It is further proof (like we need any) that this admin and SB don't give a rat's about the class of 2012!

Oh and just in case it isn't obvious, we will NOT be attending this poorly timed meeting.

You didn't get the memo - the Class of 2012 " taking one for the team ", along with Scullen kids " taking one for the team" , Watts kids " taking one for the team", those kids going to attend a HS that is 50-60% complete their sophomore year ( and freshman ) - " taking one for the team" - kids with brutal bus rides " taking one for the team", those without varsity sports next year " taking one for the team", Some kids with multiples - oh well - it's only their high school experience. the question is - who exactly is the 'team' ? Are they the same as the ' silent majority ' ?

Oh and just in case it isn't obvious, we will NOT be attending this poorly timed meeting. One thing that does strike me as obvious is that the administrators of the schools are once again damned if they do and damned if they don't. For some people things don't happen fast enough and yet others are upset about events occurring too soon...

When the overall plan is bad/flawed- the administrators of it tend to get blamed either way- I agree with that statement. They did not create the issues - but they have to deal with them...not going to be easy

I was thinking of this... Dash moved his own freshman to WVHS for sophomore year. Isn't that correct?

I was thinking of this... Dash moved his own freshman to WVHS for sophomore year. Isn't that correct? Yes, the Dash did but that was HIS choice. Having his daughter move schools after her freshman year was a choice they made, it was not forced upon them. No matter what I think that it is WRONG to move kids in HS and that is not a decision my family would make. Once you get beyond the emotional issue of not moving kids in HS, recognize that there is still the overcrowding issue of moving more kids into WVHS next year. Remember, WV will be more crowded than it HAS EVER BEEN - minus the freshman building. Where are all these kids going to fit and how does moving 240 more kids into WV next year alleviate overcrowding? All it does is move it over to WV and for this those 240 kids suffer with the all the issues that come with a HS change?

Not one single freshman parent I know has wanted to hear a thing about a transitional plan. I think that there will be 8th grade parents but not one single freshman parent I know plans to attend! I'll be at home. Let's hope that someone at the WV meeting has enough guts to ask KM why she denied the whole WV fight thing. What's that all about? Oh, and please let's hope someone asks why WV has no girls LAX program? Oh, and ask why there's no WV store to sell WV wear (thereby earning a TON of money for the Boosters). The list can go on...... Don't forget though, that the "new Waubonsie" parents are just going to go crazy with lots of money pouring in to help. Wasn't that what this was all about anyway? Yeah, right

WV Green will not be overcrowded for 2009-10, even though its losing the frosh cntr. Nor will it be the most crowded its ever been. Kathy Birkett gave the following numbers: WV admin is expecting enrollment to be 3100 for 09-10. (this doesnt consider Frontier campus students, ~75). KB also said that 3655 students was peak at WV, the year before NV opened. Note, estimated max capacity at WV is 3600-3700. (It has more square footage than NV...has a third floor). The only way the 240 students slated to move to WV would be in a school building that is over the max capacity....is if they stayed at NV and went to the Blue campus. I hope this addresses anybody's concerns that the group moving into WV Green will be in an over-capacity bldg. (I have a child doing just that in 2009...so I definitely wanted to check this out, too.)
