Just wanted to update anyone who has been on the board for a while. Just stopped by Gombert. Timm Etters and his assistant have begun on the Gombert mural. The fundraising is done. My pancake breakfast days are over. ;D
Anyone who wishes to see the progress on Gombert's mural, the PTA will be running the annual pancake breakfast this Saturday at Gombert School, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tickets are cheap, food is good.

This is the mural they're painting @ Gombert? Actually in the real mural, Homer is being dragged into the swamp by a Gator. The Duff beer has been replaced by a Coke can and the remote has the Sony label on it. Remember all that talk about corporate sponsorship during the school board elections??  |

Don't forget the Tommy Hilfiger underwear.
On a realistic note... about how long do they think it will take to complete? I remember the artist doing Watt's, but I can't recall how long or short the time actually was. I'm sure it's going to be really awesome when done.

I do seem to recall the design having a Metea Valley sweatshirt but I could be wrong. The mural itself should take a couple of weeks. Timm Etters is working on another school mural at this time but graciously agreed to start Gombert's in time for the breakfast. He will finish Gombert's after the other mural is completed. The art teacher is thrilled and is using this as part of her lessons. |

About a 2 week time frame is what we have been told. Yesterday they were priming the wall and today he is supposed to start drawing out the picture. The kids are excited to watch the whole process happen.

For years to come when I see the mural, I will certainly think of..... Homer Simpson in his underwear. And the people that made this happen! Both fond thoughts will make me smile!
