More than 90 percent of students in Indian Prairie School District 204 met or exceeded state standards on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test, the district said Tuesday.
As a district, 92.6 percent of the district's 29,000 students met or exceeded state standards on the ISAT for the combined reading, math and science tests.
AT A GLANCE
Highlights of Indian Prairie School District 204's performance on state tests:
• 92.6 percent of the district's 29,000 students met or exceeded state standards in reading, math and science.
• Math scores ranged from 92.3 percent in eighth grade to 96.1 percent in third grade.
• Reading scores ranged from 89.9 percent in third grade to 93.5 percent in eighth grade.
• In science, 91.7 percent of fourth graders and 92.7 percent of seventh graders met or exceeded standards.
• Four of the district's 31 schools did not make adequate yearly progress: Gombert Elementary; Still Middle School; and Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools.
"Students continue to have strong, stable scores that are well above state averages," the district said in a news release.
Other highlights include strong math achievement scores, ranging from 92.3 percent in eighth grade to 96.1 percent in third grade.
Reading scores ranged from 89.9 percent in third grade to 93.5 percent in eighth grade.
In science, 91.7 percent of fourth graders and 92.7 percent of seventh graders met or exceeded standards.
"Our test scores reflect hard work and dedication on the part of our staff and parents, but most importantly our students," Superintendent Stephen Daeschner said in a news release.
While the district as a whole made adequate yearly progress as measured by the No Child Left Behind Act, four of the district's 31 schools did not reach this year's target. Gombert Elementary, Still Middle School, Neuqua Valley High School and Waubonsie Valley High School had students in subgroup categories that did not meet standards, the district said.
"Test scores show the majority of our students are achieving at very high levels, but we must continue to focus on our students who are not meeting standards. It's our responsibility to find ways to help our low-performing students achieve more than they are right now," Daeschner said.
