Announcement for Waubonsie North: Metea Valley
Indian Prairie School District 204 officials named Joy Ross, assistant principal at Waubonsie Valley High School, and Edsel Clark, math department chair at Glenbard North High School as assistant principals of Metea Valley High School. Both will begin their new positions July 1, with the school set to open in August 2009.
Since 2004, Ross has served as assistant principal at Waubonsie Valley High School, where her administrative duties include overseeing the areas of student discipline, special education, and guidance. Prior to joining Indian Prairie, she held several positions in Chicago Public Schools, including assistant principal of Amundsen High School.
Ross earned a bachelor's degree from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, a master's degree from University of Southern Mississippi, and a doctoral degree from Loyola University.
Clark began working at Glenbard North High School as a math teacher in 2006 and was named math department chair in 2007. As department chair, Clark has specialized in the critical evaluation of data in order to modify instructional practices to increase student achievement. Before joining the staff at Glenbard North, Clark spent six years teaching math at Naperville North High School.
Clark has a bachelor's degree from University of Illinois and a master's degree from Benedictine University. He is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Aurora University.
Jim Schmid, principal of Metea Valley, described his assistant principals as strong leaders with strengths that balance each other. "Edsel has significant curriculum and instruction experience and Joy has strong experience in all the areas tied to student support. Combined, they are a great administrative team."
