Just in case you haven't heard yet... Indian Prairie school district and Waubonsie Valley high school have teamed up with Midwest Heart Community Foundation's Young Hearts for Life program. Together we will be offering free EKG screenings for all district high school students. The EKG screenings will be offered on March 19, and 20 at the Waubonsie Valley green campus and April 9th at the gold campus. The deadline for registration is this week. A parent or legal guardian must complete the online application form. Parents can register students online by going to: www.mhcfoundation.org/younghearts/enroll.php If you are unsure what's involved in an EKG screening, please click the link below to go to the Midwest Heart Community Foundation website. You will find a wealth of information, including the fact that the screening consists of a three minute EKG (a painless, non-invasive test that provides information about heart rate and rhythm) read and interpreted by a cardiologist. www.mhcfoundation.org/mhfcyoungheart4life.html================================== Alice Jauch, Business Education Teacher WVHS Communication Liaison Waubonsie Valley High School

We volunteered in this event @ Benet and I can tell you it takes a lot of volunteers to make this run smoothly. It is so worthwhile however. If it runs like the one we were at ( and likely since it's the same group it does)- they will ( actually volunteers are taught to) administer the EKG - which is then read. If there were any immediate questions/issues they also had an echocardigram available immediately for those kids. just under 60% of the kids @ Benet took the test-- I hope 204 sees equally high numbers.
