I have a feeling if I put the old pipeline clarification thread back out in public view, people could make their own educated guesses.

As many are aware, yesterday 2/28 was a wild day on the original Proboards76, which spilled over to here Proboards92.

It all started when there were 2 posts that were modified with some not so nice language. The modifications were showing as being done by my account. (wvhsparent).
I may get into a disagreement with people, and it may seem heated at times, but,
I want assure all of you I DID NOT NOR WOULD I EVER DO ANYTHING LIKE WHAT WAS WRITTEN. To even my most disliked person.

A check of the security logs indicated the IP number for the modifications was my home DSL acct and at a time when I was not there, but in fact working my 2nd job, where I was also posting from, as evidenced by the IP numbers of my postings for the night.

I figured out what happened, and I wanted everyone here to know, you can make up your own mind. I had set my logon to the proboards76 to keep me logged on forever, (meaning all I had to do was go to the web site and I would be logged in. I’ve done that since joining and never had a problem) on a laptop computer in my kitchen. My son let one of his friends (another 17 yr old boy) use the computer. As the proboards76 site was probably the last site visited he was able to get on.
He changed the 2 postings and also deleted all the threads in the school board topic.
Internet history on the laptop confirms it was the machine used. My son also confirmed although he stated he did not know exactly what his friend did.

I learned a valuable lesson…..I have since changed all my log-ons to expire.

Then after all that EagleDad visits our site here, which actually had been created long ago, as a back-up should something happen with the original board.
Some posts on our board were not kind to ED and a few others, and he took offense to it.
His reaction was a bit drastic, He demoted both gatormom and myself, but he is in charge on the proboards76.

I probably will not visit the original board anymore, and would like to see us continue our dialogue here. I welcome dissenting voices, but be prepared to back-up your dissent, that is all I ask. If you are unable or unwilling to do that, that dissent discussion will end.

What happened, happened, I cannot change anything, but I thought everyone should know.

Logs say GM deleted her own account.

Your account was demoted because there was a problem. Either from you directly or someone using your account without your permission. That is always the first step. Remove the access that can do further damage. A demotion from a Mod was the appropriate move so that the account could not be used to modify other people's postings again and replace them with derogatory, defamatory and libelous explicit sexual content.

Wouldn't you agree? If you don't, I'm open to hearing another point of view...

No she was demoted, then deleted her acct. (I don't think I mentioned anything about GM other than she got "demoted")

I did not protest the "demotion"
I would have done the same thing.

Then I noticed all of the remaining Admin/Mods, just left it right there instead of deleting it, and apparently still have it saved somewhere.
So I guess you and the rest could also be culpable for letting it remain.

It's called preservation in case someone wants to legally ask for it later. I had to read up on instructions to get it out of the public area while still preserving what had happened. The last PM you sent me indicated you found that it came from your house but you were investigating further. Never heard anything back from you about that. If you recall the board went into 'maint. mode' or whatever it's called and people were locked out while things were sorted out and other threads gone through to see if any further destruction of data had happened from yours or any other account that may have been compromised.

Preservation versus destruction is usually the best path in cases involving possible intrusion / unauthorized access. This is what the Postal Inspector, US Customs, the FBI and other agencies have always requested in the professional world; so I thought it would be the right course of action in this case until we understood completely what actually transpired.

After it was all sorted out and re-opened back up for public consumption, I do recall posting up that anyone wanting their account reset all they needed to do was ask. Some took the initiative to do that and it was remedied in less than 10 minutes of their requests. Others did not even bother.

I think the culpability base is covered due to the actions taken. Thanks for the concern.

From what I was told, yes there was a demotion, then someone deleted their own account by their own actions and never signed back up or asked for the moderator place back. I'm certainly not going to try to force someone to do something they obviously don't want to do anymore.
