Am I understanding this right? Are these kids supposed to walk/get driven by parents to Scullen or to Crone? This was sent out this morning in a Scullen announcement. ************************************* To: 09-10 Crone Families in Century Chase and Ashwood Creek Subdivisions From: Crone Administration Re: Transportation Information We have been informed by our District Office that effective the 09-10 school year, students in the Century Trace (East and West of 248th Street) and Ashwood Creek subdivisions will be designated as walkers. Commensurate with district policy, bus transportation will not be provided for these students. For questions or clarifications, please contact the IPSD 204 Department of Support Services at 630-375-3077.

It does say 'Crone'... so I would not interpret any of that to be for anyone assigned to Scullen.

What classifies as a dangerous street?

I think that everyone is forgetting one small important fact. Admin has to make transportation costs look like they've stayed the same (or gone down) due to the new MV. Remember how we were told that transportation costs were not going up? Come on everyone, that's the driving force here.

Did they also remove the bus routes for WVHS from the Steck area that's right across the water behind the school?

Rapists are protected, ALL SB members are real estate professionals and they also have the Head Lunch Lady as their premier bridge expert. Interesting, we have a bridge paid for and constructed by the State of Illnois as a safe passage way to school and that wasn't good enough but it is now ok to cross 4 lanes of traffic? Do they follow ANY criteria they THEMSELVES establish? Oh no! They hypocritically manipulate said criteria to fit their own agendas. Typical.

(sarcasm) In the past, they were called 'walkers' and 'should not be moved'... but there were bus routes for the area... go figure...

Ironic that if TG was still going to NVHS next year, about 80% of the neighborhood would be classified as walkers to NVHS now that the pedestrian bridge is up (in other words, the district would not be reimbursed for transportation costs).

Irony had nothing to do with it - much like my area going to Wisconsin for school - it was all planned out in advance.. and no amount of common sense was going to derail that. Also they get reimbursed- so making your area non walkers is money on the bank to try anyway possible to offset the rampant spending

OK, so why is the walker question so mysterious?? The state has provided guidelines to request reimbursement for transportation that is not covered by the school district. Refer to the pdf file: www.isbe.state.il.us/funding/pdf/safe_hazard_app_instruct.pdf. Looks like the district must apply for you but if qualified you should do it. Of course if you live further than 1.5 miles, the school district must run the bus free to the student (& family)

Marcy, what goes, my post did not mention TG, I have let that go and will not comment further. If you would at least go to the web site that I have provided you could learn something about the grading system that allows reimbursement for bussing costs. You might think that if the subdivisions listed are within 1.5 miles that they are being evaluated as to extenuating hazards and if they don’t satisfy the criteria, the state will not reimburse. Simple as that, no hidden agenda, just a little information. www.isbe.state.il.us/funding/pdf/safe_hazard_app_instruct.pdf(Note: I added a ‘.’ at the end of the sentence of the earlier post and thus the link didn’t work)

Did anyone else get the notice that kids must have student ID's to ride the bus next year?
Is this in response to what happened with the girl the driver made get out?
This seems likely to me to lead to more problems. Will they leave kids standing on the corner if they don't have their ID?
