I heard on the news this morning that concerns have been raised regarding the use of artificial turf. They are studying the effects on children who play on those fields and in playgrounds.
They are made from old tires which have been recycled. The recycled material may pose a health threat. Is this the same material they are looking at using at MV?
I know several schools have this material. My child has played on those fields. You can tell because in their shoes are all these little pieces of rubber.
Thoughts?

I don't know what specific material they are using at MV - however I have a WVHS football player, and most of the High schools are going to turf on their fields. He played last year at 3 schools that had it, both 203 schools are moving to it, and rumor is that we will do it all schools after MV (that is if we aren't in the poorhouse by then).

Somehow I feel that old tires are the least risky health or safety hazard at that location.
