Current language proposed for future incidents similar to what happened at Gregory.
"regardless of the location of the conduct, a student who has been charged, convicted, pled guilty or determined delinquent, in a court of law in connection with a violent felony against another student assigned to the same attendance (center) may be assigned to another school within the district for a period of time determined by the administration on a case-by-case basis, if the administration finds that the interests of any student or the school require such reassignment."
As I stated to the Board in comments last night the above policy statement, as written, is so narrow in scope that it will exclude from disciplinary measures such things as cyber bulling and sexting which occur off campus yet make their way into the schools.
In addition, the conduct and the consequence are usually addressed in separate sections.
In short, I urged the Board to continue to research this area of the law to implement a comprehensive policy.
