Just in in 204 e news - good news overall
( may be just an oversight by why not the scores @ each school ?)
also not trying to throw water on it as the increase is certainly good - significant for a 2% increase may be a little strong..but I understand why it is positive and would like to see a simlar increase in ISAT's -----------------------------------------------
Indian Prairie School District 204 officials announced ACT scores for the 2009 graduating class showed a considerable increase from last year. This year's average ACT composite score of 23.8 is a significant increase from last year's score of 23.4.
District 204 students continue to outperform the state average of 20.8 and the national average of 21.1.
Overall, the district has seen strong growth on ACT scores over the past four years. Today's score of 23.8 is a full point higher than the 22.8 score achieved by district students in 2005.
The ACT is a college entrance exam taken by approximately 98 percent of Indian Prairie students. The test has a maximum score of 36 and assesses college readiness in English, math, reading, and science.

August 19, 2009, 12:01 am Average ACT Scores Flat for High School Class of 2009 By Jacques Steinberg The average score on the ACT, the standardized test that colleges use (along with its main competitor, the SAT) to help make college admissions decisions, was unchanged in 2009, when compared with the previous year’s scores, the test maker said in a report scheduled for release Wednesday.
As in 2008, the average score among this year’s high school graduates was 21.1, on a scale of 1 to 36, though the number of students who took the exam increased to nearly 1.5 million, from 1.42 million a year earlier.
This year’s high school graduates did perform better than those a year earlier in one main respect: 23 percent scored high enough on the ACT for the test company to predict that they were ready to earn a “C’’ or higher in first-year college courses in English, math, reading and science. A year earlier, the figure was 22 percent.
A similar report from the College Board on the SAT is due Aug. 25.

Now it all matters none for this year as it's all mixed up and not sure if we'll be able to arrive at approx MV-NV-WV splits . Not helping that is the many more than a few handfuls of exceptions to stay at NV ( and a few WV ) - some we are now seeing directly sports related - but hey we were told it's not a 'significant' number. NV 2008 2009 Composite 24.1 24.4 English 24.0 24.4 Math 24.3 24.4 Reading 24.0 24.4 Science 23.4 23.7 WV Composite 22.5 23.0 English 22.3 22.8 Math 22.6 23.0 Reading 22.6 23.1 Science 22.1 22.7 some nice gains

Yes, the gains are nice...but if a 0.4 increase is being touted as both "considerable" and "significant," then what adjectives describe the 1.5 difference between NV and WV?
