Do you have any documents showing different capacity, I'd be interested. there are plenty in the archives here- when I get a little time I'll pull up the District Powerpoint presentation with the capacities I reference that were used to sell the freshman centers.

I think it was implied that WV had more capacity than NV. I know they had 3600 students before NV was built, but Howie also said they had kids hanging from the rafters at that time. I do recall when WV was overcrowded alot of SR and JR neighbor kids were encouraged to take early dismissal.

It was stated as fact, not implied...but then they havenever let facts get in the way of a good spin for what they want. My oldest was there during the overcrowding - and Howie exagerrated it some remember because of the desire for the freshman centers.. lots of early dismissals for seniors etc. She said only real issue was cafeteria space.. she survived without split shifts etc. - yet today they will tell you that any more than 2800-2900 is unmanageable -- to that I say - bull !

Not that he needs confirmation, but our oldest was also at WV at, or near, its peak enrollment and while it was less than ideal it certainly was workable. I always suspected that the district was pushing for freshman centers because they were trendy, not necessarily because they were needed What I am certain of was the promise that the freshman centers would eliminate the need for a third high school. I was in favor of a third high school instead of freshman centers, but of course was told a third high school wouldn't be needed. The numbers today certainly suggest that a third high isn't necessary. Oh well, it's only money....

It's troubling that the truth seems so "fluid". I understand the admins reasons for making facts fit the situation, but I thought that was what the board's role was... to represent the community and the taxpayers and keep the admin "honest".
I don't know where the truth lies, but I certainly don't have confidence in the people/process at this point.
When I was working for the 06 ref, I came across many who had the "no trust, no vote" opinion of the district/board. They wouldn't listen to any "facts" I had to pass on.
I've embraced their opinion now.

' it's more like the relatives you never knew who show up and only stay as long as your money holds out -- with one notable exception that group could not be further from being the taxpayers watchdog - they are the drunken sailor's with yours and my checkbook -- whizzing away money like we could print it here or something - no greater monument to that than our 3rd HS.... $150M of unneeded space. the sad thing is the one lone holdout who tried to warn us all was so roundly villfied by this old boys group - no one paid attention.. down to the last day we could decide to not spend $150M she begged they look at the numbers- the problem is they absolutely knew what the numbers told them - they just didn't give a rat's behind.
