ipsdweb.ipsd.org/Documents/0910/0910EnrollmentReport.pdfThe District's own document on current enrollment. Peak enrollment hasn't changed from the docs available in March 2008 before the District decided to go forward with the third HS. In my opinion, our school board cost you, the taxpayer of D204, approximately $95 million in the form of extra capacity that was never needed nor will ever be fully utilized (at the cost of $50000 per seat. In addition, based on current trends, enrollment is actually falling faster than previous projections. Look at k-3 versus 4-10 (which is where the bubble is). We build a 50+ year 3000 seat high school to accommodate a bubble of approximately a few hundred students max during the next 5-8 years. Subsequent to that period, we will experience a fairly rapid decline. In a statistically valid survey, you the residents of D204 said you favored adding on to existing buildings to meet our capacity needs. You were ignored and now you are paying for it. Modify to add other FY2010 Enrollment Docs to put in one place: winsome.cnchost.com/MAC/Enrollment9_2_2009.pdfwinsome.cnchost.com/MAC/HS_EnrollmentNumberThroughFY2017.pdfwinsome.cnchost.com/MAC/0910EnrollmentReport.pdf

Does anyone remember what the 100% capasity numbers for the elementary schools are? I know we don't operate at 100%, but I know that Patterson & Springbrook were built to house 850 students. That means Patterson operates at 81% capasity and Springbrook at about 95%. If Peterson is another 850 seat school, it operates at 52% capasity.
I would be interested to see what the other schools are. Maybe as a cost saving measure, it may be wise to look at consolidating schools.

I'm wrong. Patterson with all the additions has a 950 100% capasity therefore, it operates only at 73% capasity. I forgot that we have several elementary schools at 950. Is Springbrook another one? If that is the case, it operates at 85%.

Watts 850 capasity, 72% Owen 850 capasity, 70% and remember Watts has 4-5 satellites now feeding to keep it at this number.....yet arguments still come that attendance nevers changes from an area -

Watts 850 capasity, 72% Owen 850 capasity, 70% and Owen added a bnuch last year from Springbrook ? Builta ? - to get to this number -- was hovering in the 50%'s for quite a while Another building one has to question building- actually should have been built as a MS IMHO -- save Watts from travelling once again almost as far north as one can go to go to MS -- and areas like Brighton Ridge attended Watts when I moved here. there's a future plan -- make Owen a MS - shift ES boundaries and close one HS ( return Fischer to Fresh Campus) - don't think closing a HS in the future has never been discussed- it has.

Note it does not include the Frontier 600, which takes HS capacity to 9000: winsome.cnchost.com/MAC/HS_EnrollmentNumberThroughFY2017.pdf

We know that Scullen, with a capacity of 1200, and two mobiles, operated at over 1400 kids for around 3-4 years that I am aware of. Yet everyone managed to get the job done. Just to show an extreme case. Many of the current schools aren't even close to 100%, let alone way over, as the last doc above shows.
