WV Auction jeopardy of being cancelled 1.11.10

URGENT – PTA AUCTION UPDATE!

For the 1st time in 20 years, the PTA Auction is in jeopardy of being cancelled due to lack of volunteers.

The following key positions are needed for the auction to go forward:

Donation Committee:
2 – 3 people who can work closely together to manage all the generous donations-
1. Data Management
2. Booklet Compilation
3. Table Sign Design
Contact Ginger Evans with questions on Donation Committee positions [e-mail]

Volunteer Coordinator:
Arrange for volunteers to help with the night of event for registration, set-up, table monitors, and clean-up...

Several other key positions available and need to be filled please.

$15,000 in scholarships and grants are at risk!

DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 15TH
Final decision will be communicated early next week.

Lots of alienated parents ( or people no longer with kids in the district) -- and justifiably so....but I hope some people step up and fill this as it is very important....

You've got that right about the alienated parents. Not too many parents around here feel the need to want to jump in and volunteer. It's sad but true. The SB screwed many of us but good and not everyone is so quick to forget and jump on board to help. It may not be the right thing but I think it is truly what is happening .

I just remember Howie way back when talking about how they needed to keep Brookdale parents at WV to continue to provide parent support and volunteerism at Waubonsie. I'd guess that there's plenty of parent volunteering at MV now. Sad but right now it doesn't appear to be the case at Waubonsie. Let's hope over time that will change but I can't imagine too many new WV parents from the class of 2012 are jumping in to help (heck there aren't many of us as they're all now moving back to Neuqua ).

For what it's worth, I continue to volunteer for my own children's sake. My volunteering is no longer at the district or school-wide level though and I doubt it ever will be again.

The final decision on whether or not the 20th Annual WVHS PTA Auction will take place this year will be made at a meeting this Wednesday, January 20th, at 7:30 p.m. in the LMC. The Auction is scheduled for March 13th at the White Eagle Country Club. If this event gets canceled our school/students will lose a minimum of $10,000 in scholarships and $5,000 in school/teacher academic grants. The reason for possible cancellation is lack of volunteering to organize the event. We hope all who have expressed an interest in supporting this evening of parent/staff interaction and fundraising will show up at the meeting. Please join us!!

LOOKS LIKE AUCTION IS A 'GO' FROM WHAT I HEAR!!! YEA!

If anyone has donation items ; tickets to games, gift certificates to restaurants, movie tickets, Please let me know !!!

More donation ideas:

Do you have a vacation home that you would donate time at?

Can you donate a service? haircuts, teeth whitening, spa services, etc. etc.

All donations are tax exempt and will help to raise funds for WV scholarships. It is a great cause for great kids!!!!
