If it was a Waubonsie kid, it would be all over the papers and they would have the book thrown at them. Example number 1

I just caught this on the Sun Site while I was voting on their online poll. www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/230326,6_1_NA26_BELL_S1.article These young adults should have been punished and not let go. I am seriously pissed that the SD decided not to press charges. Steal a $10,000 bell, have your parents pay for a replacement and get off scott free. Nice message to send the kids, Howie. I agree. Why would you not prosecute these kids? Bad decision that sends a wrong message. If they steal a $10,000 car and lose it, would they not be prosecuted if they admitted it and offered to pay for it? Look folks...as one that has to deal with the State's Attorney Office on a regular basis. The simple fact is that the SA probably would not approve charges with just a confession. the SD could have said "throw the book at em" but the SA would not go along. That being said.......Name the perps!

It will appear to many other potential pranksters/thieves that you can get away with stealing/vandalism as long as mommy and daddy bail you out. If they are over 18 the names should be posted.

I have been up all night voting. ;D So that explains the 1491 no votes since last evening! The Results link on the webpage does not work. I only get to see the results when I cast a vote. Er....I mean I only got to see the results on the one time that I did vote.

WVHS isn't $10k the point, where it turns into a felony?

WVHS isn't $10k the point, where it turns into a felony? I'm not WVHS, but I hope you'll allow me to answer this (I looked it up)and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but : 1. Burglary is a felony. At least in this town, if you go into someone's open garage and steal a coke (or other beverage) from said garage, you will have committed a felony. 2. Grand theft is also a felony. The dollar amount constituting grand theft can be set by a jurisdiction. I believe in that in Naperville, it is actually quite low. 3. Vandalism is also a felony. The perps of the bell stealing committed all three.

I agree --$10,000 is no longer a 'prank' IMHO and toomany of these kids ( no longer kids) get away with this because their parents can afford to write the check....if they are graduates they are over 18 - let's see the names...Mom and Dad would hate that worse than writing the check.

Holy Cow! Is this the first time everyone is in relative agreement?
Howie should press charges then let the DA figure it out.
I guess I can walk into Neuqua, take a computer and then pay the SD for the computer. I didn't realize the SD is holding a garage sale on our property.

If I had any photoshopping skills, I would place a Garage Sale Sign on a NV picture.

On topic, they need to bust those kids - but maybe there is more to the story than we know.
And that comment about "if it was WVHS...". That's what I'm talking about Warriorpride!

I'm really getting good at all this quoting! Perhaps some didn't like the results so they did taint them? ? No more likely than someone did before when there was a huge jump in the Yes vote in a very short period of time.. why question when the No jumped, but not when the Yes jumped ? When the Yes jumped it was because the 'majority' of people were voting, but when the No jumps it's because someone gamed the system ? The results are likely bogus all the way around - period.
