Aurora people and anyone else interested -
If you don't subscribe to the Beacon News - why don't you and what would make you more interested in subscribing/reading?
If you do subscribe to the Beacon - what would you like to see in the paper that would make it better for you as a DuPage/204 resident?

I used to get the paper and still do at times. My wife's late grandparents got it every day (lifelong Aurora residents). I just don't think they carried enough DuPage/Fox Valley for my taste. They also had spotty delivery issues in my area. The straw that broke my back was - we were subscribers and we kept getting calls (weekly) to subscribe. the 1st few times we told them we already got the paper, then it got old...we asked them to stop calling to no avail. IMHO if you cannot cross reference your current subscriber base to a phone list...what else are you missing. We cancelled our subscription.

I have heard it called that at various times throughout my life. When did you last subscribe? What paper carries the right mix of Aurora/DuPage/Fox Valley coverage for you?

Being from Aurora/Dupage I can say that the Sun talks about the issues that are more pertainant to me than the BeaconNews but it always seem talking like I'm not there. I don't think that any newspaper lives up to the standards that we deserve. Naperville and Aurora are around 250,000 residents combined and in most states that would be considered a metropolion area in its own right. The Sun doesn't seem to take itself seriously as the primary source of information on the issues that we find most important. A lot of times it seems to still view itself as an alternative to the Pennysaver. I have thought about why things are like this. It could be that I am just spoiled by the coverage I have come to expect from Chicago newspapers. Perhaps they are advocating a larger agenda from their parent companies. It could be that they would just like to replace it with the Chicago Sun Times with a Naperville section.

I have read the Beacon recently and it does seem that their coverage of DuPage portion of Aurora has increased. Not enough though for me to replace the Trib and DH that I get now.

I'm amazed. The Beacon ran the Scullen story yesterday and a story today about people rallying for support from Linda Holmes. They are timely on news of interest to us! I hope it continues.
Near the Holmes story though was a story about paying county taxes and it was Kane, not a word about DuPage.
