Everything else aside, would you and your neighbors support a full amenity school at the St. John AME site? let me ask you this -- how would your area feel about a HS 9 miles from your home that had 8 other High Schools closer to your house ? ( I can list them all) & those would include Wheaton Warrenville South and Plainfield East to put this in perspective. Somewhat akin to sending your area to Romeoville HS distance wise, or Maybe Oswego East. Add this to lets say sending your area to Grainger for MS - which is about our travel distance now ? This after I heard whining on 1.2 miles further from NV to MV -- let me know how that would set with you and all those who are so quick to abandon any central site ? btw the distance from W/E for sure and somewhat for Fry would be less to that particular site than my house - do you want to travel that far ? But if the church site were selected, the boundaries would most likely be redrawn which would possibly put your area in WVHS. Would this cause a problem for you and your area? Do you think this would cause a problem for WE and Fry or will you only support a third high school if your area is attending the new school. Also, I beg to differ with your comment about BB being the only central site. If the church site is selected, this would give the district a northern HS, central HS and southern HS, no?

I can't speak for every one of my neighbors, but if a far northern site were chosen, there are lots of areas that would much prefer WV. Problem is, there are not enough students close by to fill up a far northern site, so many would have a much worse commute and would prefer to stay at WV. (assuming a far north site would be filled by mostly current WV, less walkers and very close sites to WV)

Also, I beg to differ with your comment about BB being the only central site. If the church site is selected, this would give the district a northern HS, central HS and southern HS, no? Your scenario of a N / C and S HS does not work however as there are not enough students north to fill a HS. You have to draw somehow from central - do the math on the schools. In my area - why would I want my kids to cross Aurora Ave / North Aurora Ave / Ogden Ave and Rt 59 ? Most areas complaning about crossing one major road. I can tell you most in my area that I talk to ( and that's all I can speak for) would likely have ZERO problem attending WVHS - we do now - and most people here love WV. But what has to happen to have a scenario where Cowlishaw and/or Watts won't be dragged to the ends of the earth to fill a site there. Feeders of the 12345 ES students as of start of 2007 - Brooks 662 / Steck 663 / Brookdale 481 / Longwood 477 / Young 741 = 3024 students - let's assume these are MV. to leave the freshman center at NV ( where most of the kids are ) - they should have 800 - 1000 more than WV or MV right ? so lets say ( feeder population - not HS population - assuming the same % applies as far as HS attendees) WV 3800 MV 3800 NV 4700 Where are the other 600 students from feeders for MV going to come from ? Or leave MV smaller ? Possibly the 2500 school instead of 3000 ? next closest /Mc Carty 673 ( but has some walkers to WV ) next closest / Georgetown 615 ( also has some walkers ) next closest / Gombert 528 ( has some WV walkers ) next closest / White Eagle 579 next closest / Cowlishaw 595 next closest / Watts 538 next closest / Fry 871 Show me your thoughts on this as my guess is you are north not south. So the previous comparisons I gave would not hold true - better fits to match what we would face would be to send you kids to MS @ Gregory or Scullen and HS @ MACOM. How do you feel that would work for your area ? So now - we are not new school or nothing - couldn't be further from the truth. That was never an issue. Attending the new high school was never a priority here. The fact that it would finally be a school somewhere near our homes made it a natural fit - but don't assume everyone wanted to go there - the 3rd high school is needed and that would have been our role at BB. I will start a new thread on boundaries with this as a start - maybe we should have one for North boundaries and another for South boundaries ?

Since we are on the topic of St. John's, I thought several posters laughed when this was brought up - however, it sounds like they may be one of the 4.

No reason why it can't be -- the list of candidates land wise is known ( no new revelations or changes in property I have seen in the district ) - and the list was not an extensive one to begin with.

I am in WE attendance area and would be absolutely fine with attending WVHS along with Tall Grass and Ashwood if a northern location was selected. I realize my area is centrally located and does not have the commute that some may have if northern location is selected. I am only speaking on how it affects our area if a northern site is selected. How would posters here from Tall Grass and Ashwood feel about this scenario? (Seems like it would make sense to have schools west of Rt. 59 attend WVHS if a northern site is selected. ) Cannot figure out who else could come out of NVHS except the most north/west subdivisions.

Where would it 'make sense' for them to go in your view ( not being mean, really interested in other thoughts) - as White Eagle is closer to a northern MV than any of them, and not sure Fry isn't closer than Owen at least.

Honestly, I have not looked into it that deeply. I was only speaking for my area. I think because W/E, Fry and Peterson are central in the district it makes it easier to put them at WVHS (if a northern site is selected) , but I understand that for some a northern site will not make for an easy commute if they cannot stay at their current high school. I would not be happy with that if I were you either. I agree that a northern site seems to be difficult from a population/transportation standpoint. In theory I like the concept of a northern hs, central hs, and southern hs though.

I just re-read your post and see that you mentioned WE is closer to a northern MV than Owen. It doesn't seem that way to me, but I'll take your word. If that is the case, then distance should be noted and if it meant WE attending the northern MV site, then I am fine with that too.

doc,
According to maps.google.com, it is 6.2 miles from Watts to Eola & Molitor.
It is 6.3 miles from W/E to the same intersection.
That doesn't look closer to me.
Addresses used:
From: 800 S. Whispering Hills Drive, Naperville, Illinois 60540 To: N Eola Rd & Molitor Rd, IL 6.2 miles
From: 1585 White Eagle Drive, Naperville, IL 60564 To: N Eola Rd & Molitor Rd, IL 6.3 miles

The majority of the students in this area live east of the Watts school, just FYI. Buttonwood/Countryside has had more backfill/turnover than WestWinds has (which started a couple of years ago but naturally, lately, has slowed for the time being). It would be interesting to drive that route and note the time in the morning traffic

Arch, that's why you need to use the address of the elementary school (to stay out of the weeds of individual cases). For the arguments of students living east of watts, I would present Heatherstone, WE attendees that would tack on a couple more miles to a northern site.
It's 7.6 miles from Interlochen lane in Heatherstone to Eola/Molitor. Tallgrass gets even worse.
