Again, if you know you're not in that subgroup due to your own desire to actually be involved with your child and/or your gender, then why assume it was about you? I said that group would be the hard sell for 1/2 day. If you're not in that group, you're not in that group. I can't make it any simpler than that.

When was the last time an "Action" item got pushed through in 2 weeks? Here's one: Sept 24 2007 SB passes the budget FY 2008 and that was one meeting.

At that meeting, how many people made public comment AGAINST specific things in that budget or the budget as a whole and what was done about it? How many SB members voted against it? Any?

I thought the "yummy mummy" comment was pretty funny, and being an advocate of all day kindergarten and a stay at home mom (when they were that age) who enjoyed both coffee and shopping (but not yoga so much), I suppose I could have been offended, but wasn't. As they say, "lighten up Francis". It appears that most of the posters on this subject are opposed to all day Kindergarten, but IMHO I think you'll find the community as a whole very supportive for a myriad of reasons and not all of them being selfish in nature.

The question was about it being on the Action list not about the review. Big difference. So do you believe that the SB first heard of the ADK proposal was at the Nov SB meeting? I am not trying to defend the implenation of ADK. I believe that it shouldn't be district wide due to space concerns. My point I am trying to make is that there was no conspiracy by the Dr to put ADK in the back of the meeting in order to surpress opinion. I would rather tackle this problem using fact and figures rather than conspiracy theories.

Yeah.. that's your opinion. Mine however is that is was a very sexist, disrespectful thing to say. I don't see the humor that you do. I've never said I'm not in support of all day K. In fact, I think if I were given time to digest the concept, I'd be totally onboard. It's happened very fast. What I don't like is the fact that the opinion of 204 parents is not at all being considered. Who the heck knows how many support or don't.... It's been rammed down our throats. More fun to come, I'm afraid.

I am not against ADK. I'm against pushing it through before the space concerns are worked out. I would pay more in taxes to get this done right instead of getting it done right now.

I have had e-mail discussions with board members and the principal stating my concerns over ADK and with the principal.

Apparently, it seemed rather obvious that the school by school space configurations wasn't even available at the first vote attempt. Just a metaphorical "Trust us" with a grin was all that was presented in support of the claims of space and the further claims that it won't be a problem.

I am also going to take my concerns to the PTA just to keep the pressure on. I am very concerned about losing the art/music room.

Yeah.. that's your opinion. Mine however is that is was a very sexist, disrespectful thing to say. I don't see the humor that you do. I'm sorry if you feel offended if I used the term used by the exact same moms who call to ask my older kids to baby sit for them often so they can go out to parties and go golfing and even baby sit while their husbands are home watching football (yeah, that's happened on a number of occasions). The real kicker is when they come home 2 hours after they said they'd be back, no phone call, not answering their cell phones. Luckily, my kids know their worth and insist on double the rate of pay when that stuff happens... or someone else needs to find new babysitters. So, believe me when I say, I did not have you in mind but had specific people I do know in mind who call themselves that term. Have whatever reaction you want about it, but you were never part of my thought process.

I'm against the fast push, deal with it and SHUT UP strategy. I'm afraid there is more of this to come. "Hey, 204 parents that have been so involved in your kid's education, your opinions no longer matter to us"... simply do as told, "fasten your seat belts... Now, you can just sit in the back seat and let US drive.".. Your opinion no longer counts. However, keep the wallet open, we need your cash. Next up... Technology...
