Dist. 204 looks at racist graffiti By Amy Boerema | Daily Herald Staff Published: 12/11/2007 12:18 AM Indian Prairie School District 204 administrators are looking into a graffiti incident that occurred at the Neuqua Valley Freshman Campus.
A message reading "for whites only" was discovered scrawled on a boys bathroom stall on the second floor, district leaders said Monday.
After seeing the message, a student alerted an administrator, deputy superintendent Kathy Birkett said.
She said the note was not up for more than a few hours and was a one-time occurrence.
Neuqua Valley administrators are investigating to find the student responsible, she said. She declined to say if officials had any ideas.
"We are taking it very seriously," Birkett said. "We want all our students to feel safe in all our buildings. It's very important."
Birkett informed school board members of the incident after the district's Monday meeting.
Indian Prairie District 204 has about 29,000 students and covers parts of Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook and Plainfield
Roughly 68 percent of students are white, 14 percent are Asian, 9 percent are black and 6 percent are Hispanic.

My understanding was that this was in the pool boys locker room - where there are not cameras. In addition - more than just NVHS kids use these lockers with club swimming. Maybe I didn't understand correctly, though.

I think one has to be careful about making judgments about anyone over one person's actions. I refuse to believe that this is indicative of anything other than one person who is very angry.
I am not sure it is even newsworthy. I tried to imagine how I would feel if that was reported about WV and I probably would have been upset, picking on WV again.

Maybe I didn't understand correctly, though. My understanding was that a while ago they caught the guy who went into the girl's locker room and disrobed by examining the camera footage in the halls to see that he actually made his way over TO the locker room in the first place. While the culprit may not be on camera actually DOING it, they can take an inventory of who was around at the time and start from there.

If it was in the pool locker room (not sure about that) - the entrance to these lockers is off the main athletic hallway entrance and across from the vending machines. So this hallway is utilized by many people.
