Put equal numbers of slips of paper as there are elementary schools into a hat. Upon each slip of paper is the name of a HS. The PTA president of the elementary school pulls a HS from the hat.
That's where they go. No "do overs".
That's as fair as I can think.

If Rt. 59 is such a hazard, why would they build a pedestrian bridge over it? Will it be too hazardous to utilize? I'll venture a guess and say because people playing 'chicken' on the roadway while trying to cross that width would not be a good idea. Technically at 6 lanes I believe it is Frogger, not Chicken. Chicken is a one-lane game

The bridge on Eola is just north of the library/rec center and WVHS. It is 1/2 mile from the north entrance to WVHS and even closer to the rec center/library/athletic fields. You say tomato - I say tamato. Is the usage limited to the park? So for instance, if someone wanted to ride their bike over it to the library or to watch a softball game or football game they would be prohibited? I don't get all the interest in the one on 59 by people who are not affected by it and won't use it. Trying to figure that one out... There's nothing to figure out - the portrayal of the bridge as something that suddenly makes a lot of people walkers - and visions of students and bicycles lined up in the morning to use it for such have now been around for at least 18 months. Most people just don't see that - hey maybe we're wrong - but I don't see the students giving up their cars to walk - just my previous experience. It's perception - maybe if I lived within the radius that lowers the walk to .9 or less I'd see it differently. and I shop that area all the time so I have no issue with a bridge going up - they should put another south of 95th street also First of all, the bridge is south of 95th. Secondly, I believe the number of kids who will fall under the definition of walkers will far exceed 10%. And lastly, the day I see people schleping their groceries home via the bridge, I'll buy you a cold one. I'm not buying the retail angle - it was designed more for the community amenities across 59 (park, library, school)

If we can't apply standards equally to everyone, then I'm in.

The point is not WHICH criteria is used. The point is that someone in our district has a poor track record of CHOOSING the criteria. And we've put him in charge of the choosing. YAY! I read thru the wikipedia submission. The situations at JCPS and here in D204 are radically different. IMHO there is no way they should even be compared. The main point in the suit was admission to a magnet school....none of those here...... If you can show me how the 2 are even remotely similar other than the dash. Maybe I'll give it more consideration. Daeschner IS the common denominator. I think the more telling thing is that Daeschner never backed down. The judgement came down a few days before he started here - he left the new guy to clean up the mess. How could he even think in the first place that race was a good criteria to use? I don't buy the "well 'cause we've always done it this way" excuse. And then he decided to use taxpayer dough to defend that position all the way to the Supreme Court? That just adds insult to injury. Hey I've got a dandy idea - let's put him in change of land negotiations AND boundaries!

I made a similar recommendatiion a while back - I'd be for it....I don't see a downside for our area to this -- it would make everyone look at the decisions from a level playing field

Aw Heck...why don't they just build pedestrian bridges between all the buildings, like in Minneapolis.
OOOOH! I'd like to see tunnels like in Chicago. Then they could put more retail shops in too!
