Since there seems to be some people that state we should forget BB and move to Macom. I thought I would be open to hear their factual reasons of why we should switch.
The site has a problems.
These are facts of some the problems. 1) Macom does not the own the whole site. The Naperville Park District owns land as well as Comed and a family. 2) Half of Macom's land is unincorporated. 3) The land contains high voltage power lines and is next to a substation.
So Macom supporters, how do we get around these problems? Please don't say electric line problem "move them." Give some data to back up your answer.

Convince me that BB is the best site.
We don't know when we'll get the land (and some wonder if) We don't know what we'll pay for it. There is not backup.
Bob, if my viewpoint was Sooooo extreme and represented a tiny fragment of the district like you claim it does, you wouldn't spend so much time sparring with me.

So I ask you again, why is Macom a better site than BB? and how would you resolve the known problems?
I also just want to give you the opportunity to prove yourself as a person who truly believes in the Macom, Comed, Naperville Park District site and not as someone who says the sky is green when the SB/SD says it is blue.

Lacy, BB is what the SB is going for through the courts at the moment.
If you want to bring that all to a halt and switch gears you need to bring to the table what's being asked. Short of that, the train moves on.

I am going to hate saying this..as much as I dislike the BB site.....But IMHO the Macom site is not better, and I also do not think it should even be considered as a backup. 1. It's too far south. 2. It's known costs are, at the moment, more than BB is projected to be. 3. It's too far south.
As far as it's Problems.... Not owning the whole site is very problematic. too many parties to have to deal with. Unincorporated is not a problem...fixed with the swipe of a pen. Power lines. Not sure, but the parcel could be configured to where the parking lots/rentention are under the power lines. No moving required. ( might become close charging points for our electric cars in the future)

Just a swipe of a pen? Well I guess Macom better get talking with Naperville because it is a process and not as easy as a swipe of a pen. It looks like Naperville is going to claim it sometime in the future. The future land use map. www.naperville.il.us/emplibrary/futurelu_7224x36.pdfThe interesting thing now on the map is that Macom's land might not go as far north as we have been thinking. A large chunk is destined to be zoned commercial.

OK maybe more than just a swipe. A public hearing here or there...then the swiping of pens begin.
IMHO the incorporation status is the very least of the problems.
I am not sure, but I think at the very point in time the BB property is still Unincorp DuPage. I know the Church is.
