We could always throw money into a pit implementing a 'temporary solution' before building the school, then when we actually get around to it we can complain about how much more it now costs and how the SB shirked their responsibility to the tax payer by throwing money down a bottomless pit implementing yet another temporary solution when they should have built the school in the first place because the difference in land price now will be nothing compared to the future ongoing rise in costs and other stop-gap measures. Exactly - throw away a couple $million on temporary solutions (and start from scracth again in a few years), or apply that couple of $million to one of the only feasible options we have left.

Everyone seems to miss the point that if the SB was so inept to mess up the land acquisition process, they were probably equally inept at demanding that we absolutely need a new school. NV is crowded but WV has many classes under 20 students. Newly built schools are nearly empty. The enrollment numbers were a farce. I fail to understand why so many people trust this SB. Everyone wants a quality education for their kids but it can be done at a more responsible price. This SB has to go and be replaced with people who have more than just good intentions. For $150 million we can take our time and start over.

Everyone also seems to miss the point that the kids who need the HS are in the system now and will be at the HS grade level on a fixed schedule whether the place gets built or not. There comes a time where time is the critical element.

Like we did when we voted NO on the first referendum?

The facts are that they under-estimated the numbers at Peterson. WVHS has room. I didn't say that they willfully overstated the numbers (fraud). I said they were inept at estimating them. Their numbers could ultimately prove to be right on but what have they done to instill confidence?

I read the article in the Trib today and Vickers is quoted as saying we need to look at the enrollment numbers. Before we pay an extra $15 million, this certainly makes sense to me. Based on MM's comments, it seems that some members of the school board will spend anything to get this property. I almost hate to say this, but I agree with you totally on this Lacy. School Board - Show all of us the enrollment numbers, now, or I can't support going any further.

The numbers I posted are the known class sizes, not estimates, that the reports to the state.

Blaim the SD because Ashwood isn't selling or the housing industry collapsed?

Then go ahead and pay the $500,000 + per acre to build the school. I am at least willing to admit that we MIGHT need a school but that the price for the SB's location is too high. You want to pay any price because u are convinced we need a new school.

I will say the NIU ESTIMATES were for bunk but we are dealing with estimates anymore. The kids are in the system and coming to HS.
864 more after this year.
