Why not place the WV freshmen at MV so that MV can serve as WV Freshman center. Otherwise the freshmen at WV will only be 650 students in a high school of 3600 at a time when they are the only Freshmen dealing with upperclassmen at all. That is a good idea to bring WV back within design capacity in 2010-11. I can think of three negatives, though -Planned freshman walkers to WV would no longer be walkers for that year. -I wonder how the WV freshman students would feel about being on a different HS campus. -It doesnt seem right to me that NV freshman in 2010-11 have "better" experience than their WV counterparts. I think the treatment should be as indentical as possible among the schools. I don't have personal experience with a Freshman center but I trust the parents who tell me that it is a positive experience. The kids I have talked to don't feel like they are in high school though and they already think that they are in "a different HS campus." You can even call the building ( or part of the building) WV Gold campus for a while and dedicate it as MVHS when WV freshmen are no longer there. I don't believe that NV Freshmen would have a better experience then WV freshmen going to the MV building because they would feel more like they are in a real high school. As far as bussing is concerned, I would favor paying for the busses to relieve the overcrowding at WV. Also some of WV freshmen will be walkers to MV (Chesapeak Landings and Laurel Ridge). BTW I saw your idea of leaving WV gold Campus and housing the 7th MS at MV building. Nice thinking. I remember a long proposal that I wrtote out on the CFO website about builind a district wide freshman center. I wish I saved it. It had some numbers problems because Freshmen are only one forth of the district and a new compehensive high school would serve 1/3 of the students. I rememeber that I said it would require inticining a few seniors into the frehman campus with college level courses. But that was before the Frontier Campus arrived. How about a district freshman center (cheaper cost and equal treatment) then convert WV Gold into a Frontier Campus and turn NV Gold into the 7th MS. I think that will work.

Let me see if I get this correct? You don't think it seems fair that "NV freshman in 2010-11 would have a better experience that their WV counterparts" but yet you quoted on the other thread: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I am trying to understand the pool/stadium thing. For starters...I wouldnt be up in arms if these were deleted, or not affordable at this time. As long as clear and open access is worked out at other facilities around district." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How does this make sense? You don't think deleting a pool/stadium thing would be unfair? You talk about identical treatment? I don't think that seems too equitable do you? I love the fact that some are so quick to sell out a "pool/stadium thing" as an unnecessary but nice to have item. I definitely do not think those should be negotiable items. IMO that would be completely unfair to the MVHS students. Don't throw them under the bus just because YOU think a pool/stadium isn't necessary. Ask yourself how many future MVHS taxpayers would have voted for the referendum if it was made clear that there wouldn't be equal facilities? To me that has a lot to do with why the Referendum passed - we were sold on the belief that the schools would be comparable. Your post speaks volumes about your motives.

Gatordog is talking about his/her own opinion and he/she knows that opinion better then anyone else.

Casey, you pulled his stuff out of context then tried to do an apples to apples comparison.
Each FC does not have its own stadium and pool. They have OPEN ACCESS to the one at their complimenting high school. Gatordog's comment was in the context of putting the WV freshmen at a MV freshman center instead of a MV *full blown* HIGH SCHOOL.
He's entitled to feel that a pool and or stadium is an unnecessary item if he wants. That does not mean he wishes to throw any kid under a bus. One could speculate on 'motives' based on those comments alone....

I want a planetarium at Metea. Fair is fair, afterall The point is our schools are not exactly equal nor should they be, that is what makes each one unique and special.

Oh please! Talking about a planetarium is hardly the same thing as a pool and stadium. I was simply stating that I think Metea should be comparable with regards to those two amenities. Don't make it sound as if I'm blowing this out of proportion. We have been promised by our beloved SB that the 3rd HS would be equitable and I'm simply pointing out IMO any school without a pool/stadium would definitely NOT be equitable. Say what you want but there would be a lot of upset people if that 3rd HS were built minus those items. MVHS shouldn't suffer.
Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is mine and I would venture to bet that it is the same as many future-MVHSers.

You cannot compare a planetarium to a pool and stadium. The SB needs to find a way to equip the school with these faciliities. Fortunately, it appears that the SB recognizes the importanct of this. I am not within the MVHS boundaries, so this does not impact me directly. It's commonsense. Being a swim parent, I am at the pool almost daily. It is in CONSTANT use. There's no way to "share" the facilities without having a negative effect on BOTH programs (I guess it would have a direct impact on me in that case).
