This could really hurt working parents that rely on the older kids getting home before the ES kids.
How have kids in this district been getting along all these years with our current start times?

BTW, someone in one of the forums said they thought Dr. D lived in the WV area, but was sending his kids to NV. Not true. He has 1 at Frontier campus and 1 at WV. From the horse's mouth last night. You mis-identified the equine species.........

I attended Dr. D's talk at the NV PTSA meeting last night. He discussed the later times for HS, but cautioned that they are "studying it" and that did not mean they were going to do it. Benefits are it is in synch more with the kids' sleep patterns. Makes sense to me. Also, the bussing also benefits because you move from a very wide pattern in HS to a more compact neighborhood pattern for ES. That means they can probably condense the overall bus schedule "by 15 to 20 minutes." Also, the HS kids avoid the morning rush if they start at 9:00 which could make for better commute. The key issue is the HS coaches don't want practice to start at 4:30. Plus, it may not line up with the other HS in the conference and that could be an issue. Well also getting out later affects travel times to get to places like DeKalb - Sycamore - and many of the northern schools in 204 in time for matches - meets. You don't want kids to start missing classes either..

Incorrect conclusions tend to happen when people make a from the gut decision with incomplete or inaccurate data. not sure how that applies to this - this is simply an example of people playing the telephone game - it goes on all the time at bunco games, homeowner association meetings, sporting events, and blogs like this one

Sorry, the first section killed it right there... "research showing adolescents have a natural sleep pattern that leads to a late-to-bed, late-to-rise cycle." No, this is not a 'natural' thing. Societal maybe, but not 'natural'. How did our Farmers ever survive if this was a 'natural' pattern? Early to bed, early to rise... all that fun stuff. In your case, Arch, late to bed, early to rise.

You mis-identified the equine species......... Or did you mis-identify the body part that his words come from? (I'm adding nothing constructive here today, just sarcastic comments).

Yeah, we all need a good laugh. Its been an intense and stressful week it seems. I have to say, I went to the PTSA meeting to see Dr. D for the first time. Was curious about him. He didn't disappoint, but didn't impress either. He is candid though. Seems to say what's on his mind.

Sorry, I'm really not this sarcastic either. It's just something that's fun to do. If I don't laugh, I'm gonna cry. One the plus side, it is Friday, and there are plenty of adult beverage in the fridge
