Err, i think I can singularly vouch for my third of the Petersen crowd. We would be totally fine with Macom. There would be absolutely no splits here and we would not be going to our second closet school. I think its a mute point, but I figured I would chime in Edit -- We would be walkers as well.. I wonder if having that site would've breathed some life into the build out of the ashwood subdivision? A shiny new school right next door. I would've been thrilled to go to a HS at the Macom site. I think Fry would've gone willingly. We'd complain a little...but that's in our nature. Yeah, I believe that was part of the political problem. If it had gone on that site everyone would say the board was pandering to the developers. I can be pretty much assure you pandering is absolutely not on the SB minds.

Watts wouldn't have complained - most likely we end up at WVHS or NVHS -- gee - the closest and next closest HS - what a concept

That is the second time I have seen you type that. The first time I ignored it. I am not sure about the intent but it strikes me as a bit patronizing. Just my opinion. Brad, I assure you I am NOT patronizing you. The day you stated that there were only 7 kids affected by this split, that really hit me and was the turning point to really sympathizing with you guys. I did honestly have a dream that my kids were two of those seven kids and I didn't like it one bit. So I am not being sarcastic or anything. This is my point about why I am reluctant to post on this site. People automatically read my posts and interpret the way they want and it isn't always the way I intend it. I'm sorry if you took that post as a slam. I have said many times that I sympathize with the Petersen folks yet you guys seem to not want to believe me. I guess that is your problem, not mine.....Now I am slammed when I criticize you and I am slammed when I sympathize with you. Just can't win...... I took it the wrong way too...sorry sleepless...my bad.

It may be 7 now...but it is planned to be many more...eventually..... I used to think there was no truth to that -- but the more I think about how bad that will be -- I am sure it will happen here. I am confused by this statement....could you please explain?

You can't always tell how people are thinking or if their comments are being sarcastic. I did re-read my post and I can see where you might have thought I was being sarcastic. Maybe more people should use the sarcastic smiley face when they are sarcastic so other people won't have to guess if they are being sarcastic. (Is there even a sarcastic smiley face to use?)

Hey Brad - I was curious if you're getting any answers...it is good to be able to express yourself here, but I have to say that it's often frustrating because it doesn't feel like it's accomplishing much. Wouldn't it be great if someone actually read our ideas and made a positive change for the district based on our input?

That does not mean they are wrong. I also get perspective. I have a much wider one since I joined. For instance, I am a secret super fan Gombert now I am much more comfortable with our high school assignment since I have seen all the pride the WVHS people have exhibited out here. As for change. Like stopping the school? Unlikely, IMO. We have to make the change. But I only see our next opportunity being the SB elections and the ref. I have time. Lots of time. Until then we can boil the ocean out here with ideas. Edit -- I will also add. There were a number of people on this board that went to bat for my area. And they lived in areas that were not on the SW side. And for that I am thankful and grateful.

I am glad that some of the Peterson mess was addressed. I am also glad that some of the Owen mess was addressed. Those were the top two things on my feedback to the SB. Being up north, I didn't really need to send feedback, since it really wouldn't have personally impacted me, but I saw that some things could be improved. I had other concerns that weren't addressed, just like lots of other people. What bothered me is that the SB did make some tweaks, likely based on feedback, but I don't recall many/any body giving them any credit for addressing what many people pointed to as the most significant issues. They were simply accused of not doing enough, and having ulterior motives and back door deals behind the changes they made. Talk about a no-win situation.

Well, thanks for turning my sunny post into a negative I am not really sure what the mood of the district is. It would be nice to know. This place may just be a magnifying glass for the disenfranchised. Or, maybe there is wide spread dissent. So, what the SB is being a accused of out here I think needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I do not know if this is the main stream opinion. I work with failing start-ups. One the of the first things you need to do to start the healing process is replaced the executive team. All the baggage goes with them. I have seen good and not so good people be wiped clean in this process. But it is what it is.. Do I think we need a little of that. Yes. Again IMO. I can tell you Pet still splits at ES and MS. I still find that unacceptable. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the HS assignment. But that is just my humble opinion.

They were simply accused of not doing enough, and having ulterior motives and back door deals behind the changes they made. Talk about a no-win situation. I'm one of those who thought they didn't do enough. I am sympathetic to the SB in that it's certainly is not a job I would want, and I do believe that they think they are doing what is best for 204. However, the meeting did seem like it was just a rubber stamp. Did you see the board members faces? Dash's comment about 'entitlement' was completely obnoxious, clearly the sentiment of the SD administration. For me personally, I got what I wanted. But many of my neighbors were quite upset with the new middle school. (I know, I know, many have it much worse). My neighbors did have a point though. And they were willing to move to MV. I read the emails circuilating through the neighborhood that were sent to the board. So the SB, instead of addressing a potential move to switch Steck and/or McCarty north (a change which many areas suggested), accuses those who suggest it of racism--anyone remember MM's remark about 'color of skin?' Okay, so they didn't want to use achievement balance as a factor. Fine. But they did last time around. So now when someone tries to use it, they are accused of racism? So no, I don't think they did enough. It may have been no win for the SB, but it was also no win for many who had legitimate concerns with the boundaries.

They do not deserve any credit....their behavior was appalling...it set the tone of the entire meeting. I don't reward my young child for disrespectful behavior, so I am certainly not going to let their behavior slide....
