Our SD does not negotiate with terrorists. Actually, they kinda suck at negotiation, period. I am hoping you used a poor choice in words in calling people terrorists. I do agree with you that they stink in negotiating period. This is going to be hard on our district, but the only ones to blame are the SB....they got us in this mess, now they have to figure a way to get out of it.... No, the SB didn't get us into this. A small group of short-sighted people who are upset they didn't get their own way did this. My 3 year old does this all the time - you aren't playing my way so I am going to take all my toys and play all by myself. She get's a time out. There's much worse I'd like to do to NSFOC. Idiots. (Go ahead ban me.)

What is preventing us from buying the BB land and building a smaller HS? If a 3,000 seater costs "X", how much would a 2,500 seater cost?
Just looking to generate a few "what-ifs". We're in a crappy situation, maybe we should start putting our heads together and think about what happens if things don't work out.

Aside from the 25 acres we own now, we have no rights to BB anymore. We declined to buy based on the jury trial, so we'd have to start all over. If they don't want to sell to us, I'm not sure it is even possible to condemn the land again, is it?

OK, we now know that neither Brad nor Arch sleep............. Heheh, gosh no. I was just pretty worked up about the lawsuit and interested in seeing analysis that my geeky IT mind was unable to perform

Kinda like going into a car dealership and saying, "Wow, I've been looking for this model for a long time, and I finally found one! And it's in my favorite color! And it has all the options I want!. My wife told me I had to buy a car today, can we talk price?"

There is no question, selfish, self-centered people. I don't see what could be negotiated. We can't afford BB. This will either go away quickly or we'll be squished into two mega-schools.

One thing I am so tired of is all these generalizations being made. Not beneficial at all. Am I for the lawsuit? Not totally. Am I against it? Not totally either. Does that make me self-centered or simply a parent that wants the district to operate what is truly in the best interest of our children? I choose the later.

[/quote] I agree Southsidemom - I find the comments you're referring to very inflammatory. I think many people who are unhappy with the SB have very valid reasons. And they believe in their heart of hearts that the course the SB is taking is not in the best interests of the children and the taxpayers of the district. We can agree to disagree but the name-calling, etc. doesn't help. It just serves to further divide the district. At the end of the day, you can't jam the "group think" thing down others throats. It's all very holier-than-thou. People will make up their own minds.

Okay, I was half joking/half serious about the terrorist thing. Truly, look at this situation. A group that does not represent me has filed a suit essentially hijacking our school district and taking the 3rd HS hostage--and we all know what happens to the hostage. NSFOC is not trying to "slow things down," that's absolutely bogus! They don't want accounability, they want to derail the whole project. I believe some members are being altrusitic. But by filing this lawsuit, this GROUP is saying BB or no 3rd HS: that's what NSFOC wants. If you are a member of this group, you will have to accept that this is how you will be viewed.

(Go ahead ban me.) In my entire time as a mod, I have never banned anyone. I don't believe in it unless someone is literally stepping over a very blatant law. That's not to say that I wish for this place to devolve into nothing but a personal attack forum, I certainly do not.. I understand that there are lots of emotions that are all over the spectrum and we all feel differently about these things. People need to be able to express that, no matter how much someone else may not want to read it. If people feel upset enough about not being heard or given a chance to vent to the point that a lawsuit gets filed, then banning people for not liking what they say is not an answer either. Productive discussion solves problems. Stifling conversation does not. Letting off steam is fine too, but keep it within 'legal' limits. Everyone has read enough news over the years to know what sorts of limits I am talking about and I have yet to ever witness them being approached on here, so there should be nothing to worry about.

That's what it truly boils down to. BB or nothing. We are certainly being held hostage. It's a dangerous game that people are playing with this. No way a 3rd ref gets passed in this economy. So, even though the CFO people and the boundary people have found a common enemy, if nsfoc wins, the boundary people and all the others lose. Only CFO wins. Is this what we want?
