Hey Arch/Dr. W any chance of adding a new category for "transportation"? I went to post this and wasn't quite sure where to put it. Especially since we'll be looking at consolidating soon and I'd think transportation will be a big part. Anyway, did anyone else here hear about the bus episode today coming home from Waubonsie? Apparently there was a Tall Grass bus (not sure of the number) in which the driver stopped a kid from getting on (she IS a rider on that bus - not "sneaking on" or anything). The bus driver literally put her foot in the way and said "you're not getting on the bus, it's too crowded!" The kid didn't know what to do and asked the bus driver what to do and bus driver said "I don't know" and shut the door. The child luckily got on another TG bus and was able to get home with another kid. I guess the one TG bus passed the other while that one was stopped and radioed to the office/admin/the transportation expert - Karla Z . Not sure what the outcome was but I'll tell you this if I were the parent of the child involved I'd be furious. Anyone know anything? I'm thinking the IDs are going to be required soon. Remember how well that went down? What gives that a bus driver doesn't allow a student that is supposed to be on that bus get on? Are the buses really that crowded? Believe it or not, there are some kids around here that just don't have a parent sitting at home that can turn around and pick up their child.

Have we ever seen anything that is documenting transportation costs/miles driven, etc. Remember, the costs were supposed to go down not up but other than the SB/SD's word we have nothing to go on. Well, we do have a copy of the cocktail napkin that we FOIAd to see (I am honestly NOT making this up. I truly saw a copy of the FOIA). I will tell you this the way the buses are set up in my TG neighborhood are ridiculous. There's at least 6 buses headed around here (NV as well as WV). The WV routes still don't make sense. All 3 buses pass the exact same spots and they often follow each other. In addition, the inward bound bus (to WV) takes a different route than the outward bound (home from WV). What sense is that? IF we had a transportation expert/consultant look at they system (and I'm not talking Karla Z) we certainly could come up with a better plan. IMO, we should be looking at the very simple idea of a north, mid, and south bus for our neighborhood. To me there's seems no point crossing all over and passing each other. Also, they should be equally filled not some rather empty buses and some completely packed. Does anyone else know anything about their neighborhood buses? I still have yet to hear any final fall-out from Friday's episode but there's something very wrong if a HS kid is left of a bus that they should be on. If that were an ES kid more people would be a lot more upset.

As long as you don't ask anything they don't want to tell you, like how much MVHS has cost, how all the funds they have right now are being used, budget for this year, bus costs, student population extrapolation going forward etc.

OMG! I forgot how GOOD this information was. This should be required reading for all. Please everyone - open it up and look! Personally I think everyone should pass this link around and let everyone see how top-notch and professional our district is. Let's face it, deals and contracts are made on a handshake (I'll never forget how Dr.D bragged how he single-handedly meted out the Metea deal with the church.). We're in a world of hurt if this is the way our admin works and then you look at the make-up of our current school board. It is critical that we get someone on the board next year with strong financial sense (Jerry, Eric, Mike). I think King Metzger's butt should be ousted at the next election (that's a nice way to say it) but we have so many fools that don't vote in our district. We'll just keep up with the PTA lemmings. Rah! Rah!
