Naperville to Dist. 203: You pay for crossing guards

Naperville Unit District 203 will have to pay for its own crossing guards.
City councilmen on Tuesday rejected a plea by school officials to continue to pay for the guards.
City Manager Doug Krieger said the city's budget is too tight to continue to fund the guards, which are not considered a "core" city service.
Some councilmen also noted that the city does not pay for crossing guards in Indian Prairie Unit District 204, which includes portions of Naperville.
District 203 estimates crossing guards for 10 intersections will cost $85,000 a year.
