A Naperville homemaker accused of hosting parties during which liquor was served to students of Neuqua Valley High School has been sentenced to eight days in Will County Jail in Joliet.
Lisa A. DeLuca, 49, has also been placed on a year of probation and ordered to have no further contact with students or staff members of the school, said Charles Pelkie, spokesman for Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow.
DeLuca was charged with four misdemeanor counts of violating the Illinois Liquor Control Act for giving or selling alcohol to minors. Naperville police said she did so on four occasions early last year.
Pelkie on Thursday said DeLuca pleaded guilty to one of the charges Feb. 25, during her most recent court hearing. The other three counts were dismissed in exchange for that plea, he said.
Judge Sarah F. Jones, who presided over the case, also ordered DeLuca to undergo substance abuse counseling and comply with the recommendations of her examiners, Pelkie said.
Naperville police Cmdr. Mike Anders said DeLuca hosted at least four gatherings in her home at 4227 Falkner Drive, in the River Run area of the city's far southwest side.
The police investigation began in late May, after a Neuqua Valley student told the school's resource officer DeLuca was "providing alcohol to different students," Anders said.
"Several Neuqua Valley High School kids were interviewed about this," Anders said. "During the course of those interviews, the school resource officer was able to determine DeLuca had provided alcohol to students on several occasions."
Anders said police do not know how many youths attended the gatherings or the kinds or quantities of liquor DeLuca served them.
