Ok, figured might as well start this now since Monday night we will be hearing about the cuts here -- especially since a little bird ( Ok not so little bird) has flown in with some information that should interest everyone.
1/ from multiple sources have heard we will not be getting ALL the cuts Monday night. Seems more than just the one SB member who admitted it is hoping for a miracle -- seems the budget gap is up to $7M+ than they will close next week 2/ On the block is middle school sports - period. Without some funds dropping from the sky, hearing they will be history next year 3/ High school sports will become pay to play - mainly varsity. Not raising fees- but students /parents field the cost -- now we all knew this was gong to be a target and as much as I don't like to hear this for a variety of reasons - the schools #1 job is to teach 4/ heard 19 art teachers notified today ? Can anyone confirm?
145 + 19
This bird has been mainly correct in the past and is 'well connected' so we'll see. If nothing else here's some questions to ask the leadership Monday night. Honest answers ? I won't touch that but at least the questions will be on record.

Well we knew things were going to be ugly and this is only the beginning! There will be plenty more coming.
I just hope everyone realizes why these cuts are happening. Contrary to what the district wants us to believe, this is not the state of IL's fault. The reason teachers are losing their jobs, art classes are being reduced (or eliminated), music classes are being revised, class sizes are rising, middle school sports being cut, varsity sports going to pay to play basis, etc. IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE STATE'S FINANCIAL CRISIS. It is the fault of our fiscally irresponsible district and school board who plowed ahead with a school we did not need nor could we afford. Thanks to those who did all they could to get "their Neuqua" we are all forced to pay the price. Our district should not be sitting in this financial position. I am disgusted that our administration and school board put us in this position.
We need to encourage everyone to attend the upcoming school board meeting. Let them hear from you! Mark your calendars for March 22.
And to all the "guests" reading this proboard (over 230 of you today alone), I would encourage you to sign up and start posting. The school board and superintendent do read these boards and it's a good way for them to hear your opinions anonymously. Please sign up and start posting.

I would encourage everyone to mark their calendars for Monday, March 22. It is important the school board see a large number of the community at that meeting. I'd hope we could pack the place. Curious if they'll have their armed guard at this meeting?
Sad to say but the ineptness in Springfield has only highlighted the ineptness in our district. I think more and more people are waking up to the antics of our school administration. The SD/SB are fooling themselves if they think no one is paying attention this time around.

It's easy to say just cut nonacademic things, but then when you see a list like this on top of everything else, well, it's very sobering. 19 more teachers! I do blame the state, but I sure as heck also blame the SB. Where are the admin cuts in this? I'm not one to dwell in the past, but dang, was it really so important to rush Metea (or to build it in the first place)? Aren't we all hoping for a miracle?
