ie. My son, who just finished FR year at UofI, took AP Calc sr year at NV, he was allowed to enroll in second semester math last fall. Once he received his AP score, a 4 or 5 got him college credit for the first semster math class.
Now if he hadn't gotten a 4 or 5, I'm not sure whether he would have dropped back to Calc 1, because a placement exam for math was also required??

For AP classes, whether you receive college credit or not, depends on the class and the college, but it is my understanding that while a 3 might make you eligible for advanced placement, for most classes a 4 or 5 is necessary for college credit. GD, do you have the percentages scoring 4's and 5's? that's why I 'asked' the question about 3's-- maybe that explains what was communicated a few years ago and what is on the web site. Passing the class does not equate directly to college credit --- all it guarantees is that for the school GPA someone with a C gets a A.

^ How's that?
In 204 an AP C is weighted to a B. For son's college - an AP C in Calc counts as a "pass" for the course, doesn't compute in GPA.

I meant B not A. but I do have a question since it's not in the handbook - how are honors and AP classes 'weighted' differently - or are they ?

phew! thought there was a whole lot of recalculating going on Honors and AP classes are weighted exactly the same, add +1 ok- it's been 7 years since my oldest got out of WVHS and Benet does not weight classes, so my foggy memory told me there used to be a difference between AP and Honors weighting, but obviously not now - and maybe never - my memory may be failing me on this one.

Some places do give +2 for AP and +1 for honors (If you get a C or better). My high school did that.
