"One student did sustain a puncture wound to his hand," Naperville police Sgt. Gregg Bell said Monday. The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. May 18 at the school, 1836 Brookdale Road, Naperville. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unavailable at this time, and the matter is still being investigated, Bell said. "One student was arrested later in the day," he said. The student, who is not being identified because of age, was charged with aggravated battery. Following the incident, Hill Principal Allan Davenport sent parents a message to alert them of the situation. The school nurse had contacted the office to report a student had been injured by another student with a pair of scissors, he wrote. "The victim sustained a minor injury. After checking the student and gathering some basic information, we called a non-emergency lockdown and contacted the Naperville police to help us investigate the situation," Davenport wrote. "As a safety precaution, we did have the student transported by ambulance to have the small cut on the student's hand looked at. Please know that all students are safe and that your child's safety is, and will remain, our first priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we handle this situation. Thank you."
