July 18, 2010 From Submitted Reports A familiar face now leads Hill Middle School in Naperville. Darrell Echols, who taught for several years at the school, has been appointed principal of Hill, Indian Prairie School District 204 announced. www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/2507184,6_1_NA18_D204_S1-100718.article From 1998 to 2005, Echols taught seventh-grade language arts at Hill. He later served as dean of students at Waubonsie Valley High School before leaving District 204 to become principal at William B. Orenic Intermediate School in Troy School District 30C in Plainfield. While working in District 204, he was named the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation's Most Influential Educator for six consecutive years. He was a Who's Who Among America's Teachers award winner 2003-2005 and was the NALCO Teacher of the Year in 1999. Echols received his bachelor's degree in theater arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master's degree from Aurora University. He is in the doctoral program at Aurora University. Echols is taking the place of Allan Davenport, who served as principal of Hill Middle School since 2007. Davenport was recently appointed principal at Crone Middle School, taking over the post from Stan Gorbatkin, who was appointed director of technology services for Indian Prairie.
