Great first day for all my kids but WTH? Waubonsie's AC is broken or not working throughout much of the building. Kids were dying. I know there's no AC at many of the elementary schools and I'm not discounting that but given the way Waubonsie is constructed (cinder building, no windows, etc.) it's much worse there. Kids will survive but yuck!
My kid came home from Scullen and told me the school is down to 1000 kids when last year it was 1500. Those are his numbers not mine but I thought it was funny that he was quoting enrollment. Thankfully for Scullen kids we have no more one way stairwells, shared lockers, lockers in the lunchroom, etc. The 1000 seems much more manageable. Also, all the 6th graders eat lunch at the same time - that's a huge improvement.
Lastly, thank you to whoever came up with the idea of just allowing the kids to wear a gray Tshirt for gym. Those 204 PE shirts were expensive, ugly, hot, and just so wrong. I'm glad we've moved on from those.
