President Obama is planning a national address for students across America on September 14. As he did in his speech to students last year, he is expected to challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning.
I want you to know that while we believe the President's message is important, we do not have time set aside to watch the speech during the school day on September 14.
If you have any questions on this matter, please contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Kosteck

At NV, they used the "opt out" approach.

Scullen changed their approach today - this came over in Scullen Daily Announcement email:
Parents,
Earlier today you received information from me regarding President Obama's national address for students across America. Although we did not set aside time today to watch the speech, Scullen's leadership team met this morning to consider another alternative. Since teams have Advisory time on Wednesday, students will view the speech tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15th, via the classroom computers. If you would prefer your student opt-out of the viewing, please notify me directly and cc your child's team by 8:00 am on Wednesday morning.
If you have any questions on this matter, please contact me directly.
Sincerely, Kathleen Kosteck
Principal
