Dear Constituent,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. We have had a very busy couple of months in the district and I wanted to update you on some recent exciting news.
Navistar
I am pleased to announce that Navistar has ultimately decided to relocate its operations to Lisle. Navistar, a company that manufactures diesel engines, trucks and other large vehicles, is choosing to move their headquarters to our community and the Illinois General Assembly provided an Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax credit (EDGE tax credit) to help make this relocation happen. In addition to adding a new facility to our area, the corporation is also choosing to bring 3,000 new jobs to our area for our working families. We are very grateful Navistar is willing to invest $205 million in Illinois by bringing their operations to Lisle.
This relocation will help our economy move forward again and I will continue to push for legislation that advances job creation in our area. Thank you to the committee members and leaders who worked so hard to complete this great advancement for Illinois and for Lisle.
Senior Fair / Kids Safety Expo
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all who attended our recent Senior Fair with Rep. Michael Connelly and our Kid's Safety Expo with House Republican Leader Tom Cross. I loved seeing all of you and we had such a great time. Thank you all very much and we hope you will attend another event very soon.
Halloween Costume Drive
Due to the overwhelming donations and popularity of the drive last year, I am once again hosting a Halloween Costume Drive for children who otherwise would not be able to dress up for Halloween. BUT I NEED YOUR HELP!
I am asking for donations from the community for gently-used or new Halloween costumes for elementary school students to be delivered to my office at 125 Water Street in downtown Naperville. The costumes will then be donated to children who attend Georgetown, McCarty and Nancy Young Elementary Schools. Last year, it was held for only Georgetown Elementary School in Aurora. The drive is taking place from now until October 18, 2010. Please contact my office at (630) 219-3090 if you should have any questions.
Veto Session
In November, I will be going back to Springfield for the fall veto session, where many tough choices will have to be made. I recently sent out a survey asking for your opinions on what issues should be priorities for our community. Please return your survey to my office, or please go to my web site (www.senger.ilhousegop.org) to fill it out electronically. The survey is an important tool that helps me to better represent the residents of the 96th District in Springfield.
As always, it is an honor to serve you in Springfield. I would invite you to check out the General Assembly's website at www.ilga.gov. Please do not hesitate to call my office at (630) 219-3090 if I can be of assistance to you. I also invite you to visit my website at www.darlenesenger.com.
Sincerely,
