= circling the wagons around the shrine to Jeanette Clark... You know the other day I was musing though the archives and found myself reading the thread of the Orange shirt night when JC was crying making a complete ass out of herself trying to help her area instead of during what was best for the entire district. JC should have been reprimanded at the very least or someone should have asked for her resignation for her conduct. Yes she is a hero to her area. watch for a statue to her in front of MVHS-- she delivered big time for them- even though we didn't need it. They would name a school after her but even they don't have the balls to try and build again. Maybe rename a current school --mark my words it will happen and her protege will be the sponsor

Then again, someone should have asked for Mark Metzger's resignation for calling the parents of an afterschool rape victim "Motherfuckers" but they never did. That to me, is inexcusable and remains unforgettable. At least he and his protégé will soon be gone forever. Chris Vickers stood up at the Board meeting following the disclosure of the email and stated he should resign. She was the only one. Every other Board member just sat there.

I was at those Brookdale meetings, even spoke at one...not everyone there wanted to follow her-- it was close to an even split. SOme were perfectly happy with Waubonsie -- as I would have been. She convinced them this had to be done..it was an amazing site- a member of the ruling party protesting the same body. But she had no f'n problem putting the same screws to other areas for MVHS boundaries, then getting out of Dodge.

Yes, Chris said something which is good. Unfortunately she did not make a motion. I would like to see people really stand up when they stand up. I would have preferred she make a motion (to remove, or if that did not go, to censure M2) to seek a second, then a vote. Every member of the board needs to realize they are empowered to make a motion, then with a second there will be a vote. DeSart should have done this on the V-Day issue as well. If you call a vote, you know where they stand, and don't allow them to dodge issues The antithesis of this is Alka with her "Board Goals" mantra which said if it wasn't on the agenda 12 months ago it can't even be discussed, removing all possibility of dealing with current events or new developments I hope that ethos disappears with her.

I second the congratulations to Mark Rising. Despite attempts to undermine him and spread rumors, he stayed on his message which was one of fiscal responsibility while having a great educational system. Sure that's not "physical" responsibility. Sorry I couldn't resist... However, I am glad he was elected to the board. Some new faces will hopefully bring some changes...

I talked to CV about this afterwards. She told me she had done her due diligence and found little recourse on the issue...she thoroughly researched the board's policies and state statutes. The law speaks only to removal due to significant absences at board meetings (and even under this circumstance, it isn't easily accomplished and has rarely, if ever, occurred in this state) . Other grounds for removal are criminal misdemeanor or felony charges IIRC brought against a board member. Other than that, the board really has no authority to remove or impeach a board member from office. The election process is a power thing. It's really no different than the removal issues we have at other levels of government. She also pre-determined that she would have absolutely no support for her position on this whatsoever. That understood, the only thing left to do was to make a personal and professional plea to M2 and his conscience by asking for his resignation to restore credence, trust, respect and integrity to the board as a whole. We know how that ended. It was probably the first and last time I've ever seen the entire board say absolutely nothing, including the offender, on an issue being raised. Even if a motion had been a viable option, there is no question IMHO it would have failed a second. As I also understand, censuring, when used at a school board level, is more a statement by the board and representative of a public slap down or flogging by board members than it is an actual and literal gag or gag order on a member. The law is very loose in this area as well. We're in Illinois so I guess we shouldn't be too suprised. I look forward to the perspective, sensibility and integrity Mr. Rising will bring to the board. That's what he sold us on and the majority is relying on him to deliver. He has been given a mandate to do so.

Insider I really believe MR will come through. He is just as disgusted with the goings on of the SB as we are. In MR I really believe we finally have someone other then possibly CV that wants to put a stop to mindless spending.
