The district seems to be cracking down on students who don't attend the high school they are supposed to. In the last 2 weeks, 3 WV students who couldn't prove their residence in WV boundaries were sent back to MV. All three were "renting" apartments in WV area, but were unable to prove that they were actually living there. Anyone heard anything? Wonder if any NV students are being sent to WV?

I want to make sure I understand- so they enrolled in WV - but really lived in MV district ? Or they couldn't prove they lived anywhere here and were sent to MV ?

Yes - they live in MV boundaries, but were attending WV with "rented" WV addresses. All were asked to prove that they live in WV area and couldn't so they are being sent back to MV. They were trying to do an end run around the district to go to WV and got caught. All of them have attended WV for 2+ years. So my question is this, regardless of whether they were doing something they shouldn't have been (which they were), why is the district all the sudden cracking down? And are they cracking down on the whole district???

I have not heard a thing about the district cracking down. Though they could have a field day with the number of Neuqua kids who should be at Waubonsie but are not. There were so many exceptions and just plain fishy things going on with kids wanting to stay at Neuqua. IMO, they should be cracking down though it should have never even been allowed anyway.
Lots of districts are spending big money on PIs to check attendance boundaries to keep non district kids out. What does 204 do? I'm not talking about kids who are at different HS than they should be (though I'd love to see those investigated too) but I'm talking about non-204 kids who are here fraudulently. Do we have full time investigators working on that? Also, I personally think our district should require parents to register and provide proof of residency EVERY SINGLE year (not just in kindergarten).

I don't know that the proof of residency is enforced. I received one last year for my freshman to be daughter and I tossed it in the trash. THe efforts the district has done in the past to stop non -residents from attending is ridiculous....just ask moms at elementary schools...they can probably tell you 5 families that are cheating. I've sent 3 kids to 204 and have lived here for over 13 years. I've held PTA committee meetings in my home. So, unless the middle school principal completed the form on my behalf - it was not enforced.
But, I did notice on the high school schedule envelope it clearly was marked DO NOT FORWARD. Not that this will catch a lot, but at least it's an effort.

Back in the day, and we are talking Gail McKinzie, there was a full time person tracking this stuff. I think the record for shenanigans is held by NV parents moving, having their kids diagnosed with disorders that would be worsened by changing schools and, in one case, even divorcing so that one child could stay w/the NV parent.

( hint: not in the district) in order to make attendance look less than horrid there ? I'd be careful about giving any awards to any one area re; manipulation of facts ...I think that belongs to our illustrious leadership
