Our school district is faced with massive budget issues since the State of Illinois is not paying their fair share. Unfortunately, one area to save $50,000 is by eliminating Soccer from all 7 of our Middle Schools. Our request is to find other areas to find savings in an effort to keep soccer. We understand the need to have a balanced budget but we do not understand the need to isolate one sport. It as if you are telling soccer players you do not matter. Ideas being suggested: 1) Cut one of the three football teams at the middle school levels. The weight classes can surely be rearranged. The amount of money spent on replacement equipment alone over the next few years could fund soccer. 2) Combine 7th and 8th grade teams. How do some sports get their own grade level where soccer players are totally cut out all together. 3) Charge all sports a pay to play fee. 4) Allow parent transportation to events 5) Cut all the sports team and do not isolate on group of students. Please join us at the next School Board Meeting on Monday, March 12th at 7:00pm as we show our support to Save Middle School Soccer in IPSD204!
