Welcome to musical chairs District 204 style. Only difference here is when the music stops 2 new chairs have been added with a stack of cash for the lucky players on each. And don't worry if you get tired of playing make sure to collect your lifetime annuity check at the door. No wonder public education in america is going down the toilet.
204 e-News: New Administrators Named
District 204 officials presented new administrators to the Board of Education at its April 2 meeting. Kathy Duncan was recommended to fill the position of Chief Academic Officer and Kathy Pease was recommended as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Teaching and Learning.
The Chief Academic Officer is a new post that combines the positions of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Deputy Superintendent. Duncan has held the same position in Naperville District 203 since 2010. District 204 is familiar to Duncan. During her career, she spent 14 years in the district as a teacher, student services coordinator, principal and Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. As Chief Academic Officer, she will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that reflect the district's goals in order to directly benefit each student. She will also serve as the ranking administrator in the absence of the superintendent.
Superintendent Kathy Birkett described Duncan as a passionate educator who is focused on doing what is best for students. "We are fortunate to have Kathy return to our district. Our students and staff will benefit tremendously from her knowledge and experience."
Kathy Pease will replace Assistant Superintendent Martha Baumann, who retires in June. In her current position as Executive Director of Elementary, Pease has helped Baumann oversee the district's 21 elementary schools. When she becomes Assistant Superintendent, Pease will be solely responsible for that task, as the district will not fill the Executive Director position as part of its budget reduction plan. The district is committed to saving a minimum of $100,000 through restructuring its central office staff.
Pease began her career in 1985 as an elementary teacher at Clow and Spring Brook Elementary Schools. In 2002, she was named principal at Spring Brook Elementary. She later worked as principal and Director of Curriculum in Geneva School District 304 before returning to District 204 in 2011.
"Kathy's depth of curriculum knowledge combined with her leadership skills are a great asset in leading our elementary schools," Birkett said.
There was also a change at the April 2 meeting for Stan Gorbatkin, the district's Director of Technology Services. Gorbatkin's title will be Assistant Superintendent of Technology Services. Gorbatkin has overseen the technology department since 2010.
All changes are effective July 1.
Rather appropriate that I should creat this new thread right after the one below it "IPSD Layoffs- No accountability from our 'leaders'" has died down if you ask me. I am so completely, utterly, thoroughly sick and tired of this crap.
