I know I am one of a few parents that were very concerned about Jessica Ahlquist speaking at WVHS yesterday for Constitution Week. I felt that she was not an appropriate guest speaker for our children and am glad my son was not in attendance. Our district paid her $400 to speak about her winning a court battle with her school district over a prayer hanging in her school and that she is an atheist and it violated church and state. If our district is paying for a speaker, I am sure we could find a more qualified expert on the Constitution to speak to our kids. To bring in a speaker that is known to not be able to speak eloquently on constitutional rights appears to me to be in poor judgement. illinoisfamily.org/education/constitution-week-at-york-waubonsie-and-downers-grove-north-high-schools/#.UFc0PSFde2B.facebook

I wonder if our administration would be so eager to allow a speaker to speak to the student body about what the 2nd amendment of our Constitution is, and how that constitutional right is violated every day for the citizens of Illinois.
That probably doesn't fit so well with "the agenda".

The district certainly could have done their homework before this invitation went out.
Interesting how this young lady felt "as if she did not belong" after reading a simple prayer, I only hope she has better coping skills once reality really sets in.

I agree whole heartedly we could have found a much more qualified speaker- however notone that fits the entitlement agenda here in 204
