ah, for the old days -- today we have people voting on Sb candidates they know little about. Lots of people asking for input today but most people in the district worn out from years of nonsense.... For those interested here is what little I do know Bansal - fiscal conservative who appears to be very knowledgable and could be a real benefit with the financial issues that are going to smack us in the face in 204 starting next year.. when the piper comes calling for what we've done Curry - astute enough to know ES consolidations/closings not that far away from comment in forum. Yes, we need to fill 5 spots-- we are in trouble. Shame Christine and Dawn are not on the ballot as the board certainly will miss them. I thank them for their service - especially Christine who was the voice of reason, sometimes by her lonesome for quite some time. |

Voted at noon.... voting machine noted 44 votes cast.... another family member voted at 4p.m. with 94 votes cast.... One can only hope that many voters will be casting their vote once arriving home from work.
Kinda of sad with 1500 homes and probably 2500- 3000 registered voters that one can expect such a poor turn out.
Thank you to all that spent the 5 precious minutes and voted.

I went at lunch time and was only one in poll -- apathy wins again..How sad. thanks for voting SSSM - if only others cared enough to spend 5 minutes as well -- that's why as far as the results - people get what they deserve.... counting down to waving goodbye two incumbents one friend of the program who now has 2 years one ex admin who will diligently watch over the two pensions in the house ( gee no conflict of interest there  ) and one SB member that may prove interesting. One who brought up the 5 year ( and counting) decline in K-5 enrollment and the need for looking at ES school closures and and future consolidation. stay tuned here - someone who actually has done homework and understands where we are and how we got there ! |

Taxing mail arrived today. Sad to watch tax rate climb at 2.5 times rate of inflation. Can't say I am surprised.
Neighbor noted they had no idea as taxes are buried in a mortgage payment.... Can't say I am surprised.

The old saying is that “figures will not lie,” but a new saying is “liars will figure.” It is our duty, as practical statisticians, to prevent the liar from figuring; in other words, -- to prevent him from perverting the truth, in the interest of some theory he wishes to establish.-- Your point and hidden agenda seems to be that the school district 'read that the school board full of 4 buffoon's is increasing spending at a rate of 2.5 times inflation. First as a mater of fact my tax rate went up by 10.3%. (8.5899% to 9.4777% for my Aurora property) which would imply that inflation is on the order of 4.1%. I don't know, maybe gas has gone up this amount but then this wasn't referenced. The perversion of course takes place when the fact is pointed out that the dollars taken from me this May and September (2012 taxes) went down by 1.14%. In fact my property taxes went down the last three years. (I didn't check additional tax bills.) So, in the end I would have expected more from southsidesignmaker who knows the way taxes are generated. In a time of shrinking property values you would expect the tax rate to increase as well as in a time of increasing property values you would expect the tax rate to decrease. End of story. Neither narrative is proper when talking about taxes wasted or needed. |

How are those 12000-13000 high school students doing in their 3 high schools, is it time for a fourth yet ? Amazing that we have hundreds of out of district kids padding what barely is the total enrollment accurately predicted by the entitled MF group. Also gotta love the outrageous quote for A/C recently received --good luck with that. |

I figured they would never put AC into all the Elementary Schools!! I'm sure a 4th HS is on the horizon!! Why pay for AC when you can have an additional building to manage and maintain!!
If I remember correctly doctorwho, your kids are probably complete and into college at this point in time? Congrats!! however...still having to pay the ole property taxes to fund our fair district?

Just a quick drop in since I met someone who was a participant on this board and just found out who I was..amazing how well known this site as by local pols also...I believe it served a purpose, I know it tried to. Though not as pressing as blowing $154m, there are some issues people could use the truth on here....if anyone is interested in reviving old blue, let Eagle Dad or I know,if not- Happy Holidays to all..
