WVHS is choice for its diversity
When we decided to build our home 11 years ago, our builder gave us a choice of a few communities: The Naperville North area, south of Neuqua, and both the Oakhurst and Oakhurst North subdivisions. When Ron Walker stated that no one chooses Waubonsie, he was wrong. We specifically and purposely chose Waubonsie, the Oakhurst subdivision and Aurora for our home. Why? We wanted our children to attend good schools with a little bit more diversity. We wanted them to have the opportunity to be in a school that was a little closer to what the real world is like. But we also wanted to make sure we were in District 204 because of their strong gifted program. Diversity was important to us since we had sent them as the only full tuition students at Jack and Jill Nursery School near downtown Aurora when they were little.
Our daughter will graduate from Waubonsie this year. Our son is a sophomore at University of Illinois. Both of our kids had fantastic experiences academically, socially and athletically at Waubonsie. Both have been grateful for the opportunities they have had and the choice we have made for their schools.
Waubonsie gave both of them an excellent education in a more diverse setting, allowing them to grow and learn not only from their teachers, but the other students around them. We are happy with the choice we made when we built our house. It was the best choice we have ever made for our children's educations and their lives.

Anyone else notice that the many favorable letters/comments about WVHS that have appeared lately--like the one above -- make absolutely no mention of the overcrowding, eating on the floor, etc.
Interesting that the notion of overcrowding is not universal.

She must be related to J. Clark - this sounded like her the first selection meetings.

Eating on the floor? Although some of the lunch supervisors think it's gross and actively encourage them not to, students can choose to eat sitting on the floor in the lunchroom. In the option area outside the lunchroom, students are not supposed to eat, but have been known to sneak food out of the lunchroom or eat their lunches brought from home. To my senior's knowledge, the only really full lunch at which if 3-4 later-arriving students wanted to eat together they would have had to ask others to move, was 7th period last year.

I wrote that letter. I am not related to Jeanette Clark in any way shape or form. My kids have never complained about crowding or having to eat on the floor, although my nephews at Neuqua have. Those just have not been issues to my kids. They have enjoyed WV. My son still goes back on occasion to help with the cross country and track teams.
I guess I raised kids who tend to look more at the positive and shrug off the negative. THey have had a great experience at WV.
Overcrowding is an issue at many of the schools in 204. It's not unique to WV.

It's not unique to WV. welcome , and one thing I'll think you'll find is that few people have the negative things to say about WVHS we keep hearing about at SB meetings - that made the SB feel they had to create a "new WVHS'. Yes there are some comments , but a handful of people will criticize anything. I like you have a proud WVHS grad ( 2003 ) who also still helps with summer camps. We were hoping to have a 2nd Warrior this fall until this mess started - and in their infinite wisdon the SB-SD chose to send us to the HS furthest of the 3 from our home. My beef certainly not with WV - it is with the fact we cannot attend there because the SB wants deeper pockets to support the school than the Watts area has - that's what I find lousy. We would choose WV as our top choice of the 3 schools - yet we get asked to leave - go figure.
