High school distances are not given correctly
Neighborhood Schools for our Children wants the public to believe that Tall Grass is about 8 miles from Waubonsie Valley High School. If you use Google maps, Fry Elementary is only 4.0 miles from Waubonsie Valley High School (using 95th to Normantown, to Montgomery, to Eola). Even if you live at the south end of Tall Grass at 103rd and Tall Grass Drive, the route is still only 4.8 miles.
How is that about 8 miles? Even if you were dumb enough to take the longest route using Route 59, it is still a maximum of 6.8 miles.
NSFOC is grossly misrepresenting the facts to instill fear and doubt.
It's not about safety, it's not about distance. They state it's not that they want to attend Neuqua. No matter what they say, the fact is they don't want to attend Waubonsie. What a shame. They are the ones who are an embarrassment to our school district!
I was smart enough to know that during the referendum we were not voting on a location or boundaries, we were voting on building a third high school. Why is that so hard for people to accept?

Well Cindy is an idiot. I live in Stonebridge and golf at Tamarack in league every week in season. The distance from TG to WVHS is a much more substantial time difference than to NV. But what is her point. This lawsuit is MUCH deeper than TG, WE or any one neighborhood. This mindset is getting old. I finally had a SB member acknowledge the lawsuit is bigger than TG and WE wanting NV. FINALLY! Seems more in North are getting upset with SB\Admin and joining in taking a stand.

The distance is ridiculous though given closet high school is less than 1 mile for many. I wish they sent us to farther school then we would not be slated for the new horrific site. No rhyme or reason to SB decisions these days.

I'm going to have to call Cindy out on this one - not sure where she is getting the statistic that WVHS is 8 miles - I checked the website and didn't see it. That would probably be the worst case scenario.
People keep bringing up this shortest distance turning left from Normantown to Montgomery - that just doesn't work. It takes FOREVER to make that turn during traffic. When you do a mapquest search it gives you the shortest time route - 59 to Ogden. Not always the shortest distance, but time is more meaningful than distance anyway. Like taking the expressway vs. the side streets.
I'd like to see Cindy Nealon drive the two distances and then make her conclusions. Someone needs to write an LTE in response to her.

WOW a WATTS family not worried about distances? when you run campaigns for SB members - it kinda trumps other stuff -- so let's hold off on the altruistic motives here again. We also had some families vote NO here last time to - just less % than anyone else - we'll see what happens with that next time if you think this one person is the norm. It is the exception not the rule-- are people in your area 100% aligned ? Oh wait, maybe they are.

Cindy is the one who kicked around the email in the Watts area soliciting for positive feedback to the board to surveymonkey about selecting the Eola site.
This line always stuck out as a "Why in the world did you put this in there?"
"If it makes a difference in your opinion (and I know it hasn't been published), there's a good chance May Watts would still attend the new high school."
In other words: Watts won't have to go to WV anymore .......
I seriously think that many trying to insist that this is all about the boundaries for the TG/WE people are secretly happy they are not going to be going to WV anymore and they are grossly overcompensating by continually fabricating/pigeonholing an area of the district as the 'elitist bad guys'. I got this same impression from watching public comment by people over and over and looking up where they reside.
Are there some that are in it for boundaries? I don't doubt that there are but I do doubt the VOLUME of people who only care about the boundaries.
If you listen to the 'silent majority' as they call themselves it sounds like they want everyone to believe the opposite: That there is one or two looney bins in the district who stupidly care about safety and dangers to the kids but everyone else only cares about property values and what school they attend.
This behavior is just getting pathetic, IMO.

(That's way too much S*&! for me).
