IIRC, most of us were so wrapped up in the boundary discussions that we failed to even think about environmental issues, myself included. We made the mistake of trusting the intial SB reports that AME was fine. I have to call B.S. on this one. JB, you may have failed to think of the environmental issues until after the boundaries were set, but Eagle Dad and Arch brought these to light as soon as it was announced 204 was going to purchase AME/MWGEN, which was well before the boundary issue being decided. Many here were discussing the hazards long before the boundary decision, others decided to join in afterwards, as a last ditch effort to stave off a school change for their children. The "Us" I was referring to was the district, not this board. The land switch / boundary discussions made the press immediately; the environmental concerns didn't surface in the press until much later. In the absence of press coverage, I suspect it would take some time for environmental issues to filter through the general population and gather a critical mass of concerned people. So, the timing isn't that suspect. Yes, I'm sure there are boundary folks out there, but more of us are concerned about saftey and cost.
