This was just what I had heard - they must have talking about the truly dangerous kind- the brown wooden ones - you know the one circuit kind - I'm pretty sure you'll find em if you look hard enough!

I'm thinking being a school board member was a lot easier before google maps, digital cameras, and the Internet I'm also thinking there's a family leasing farmland on North Eola who are wondering who all the cookballs running around with cameras are

Not brown wooden substations - the actual power poles that are wooden emmit more EMF's than the White Giant Power Poles. The substations themselves have higher readings in the barb wired fenced areas - keep in mind many of the electromagnetic fields neutralize each other before they get past the fence area. The readings on the sight are not from the substation but from the towers. The currency produces the EMF's - In higher voltage lines lower currency flows. In lower voltage lines (the ones on the brown wooded poles every where you drive) much higer currency to carry the power - therefore more EMF's!

Whatever. I don't want my kids next to it and most people would never buy a home near one of these. The railroad tracks and the distance bother me more. Plus those things are just ugly.
Don't forget the school board admitted that the power stations might present a health hazard and they can't take that back.

Are we talking pretty scenery or real issues??

That was when the Peaker Station was still operational - that is no longer an issue since it has closed. It was a concern then - no longer!

The railroad tracks and the distance bother me more. And why is that? I am sure the SB regrets using that for the reason why AME was no good in order to sell the BB site to everyone. The sad part is it most likely was blown out of proportion to the SB's advantage to sell their agenda. It is funny part is that it came back to bite them.

By the way we are talking about building a school not buying a home!

This is all very informative, hillmom, could you point me to the source of this data or your research, so I could read up on it? I have to admit, during my education as an Electrical Engineer in one of the top 5 schools in the country I never learned much about the electrical characteristics of "currency". Also, while I have your ear, I have to thank you for your reply to stinks on Wednesday, I found it all too true: « Reply #415 on Jan 16, 2008, 3:21pm » Are you kidding with your ignorance - hoping my children don't have the misfortune to attend school with yours. Ignorance is very unbecoming - get educated!!

That has sort of been the theme of this entire expereince. Promises or statements made that come back to bite. Like how easy it would be to win the land from the trust, etc.. I guess when a process runs this long truths sooner or later break out. What do you believe anymore. Hence I think people quesiton everything down to the last detail. Including environmental, travel time, funding, open date...

Brad, I agree. We have all had experiences of promises that never happened. We were all told things (some to our faces) that were later recanted. It is a disheartening process. It does certainly make us more cynical. I think we can all agree to that.

So you do know what I am talking about - Very very long history of electrical engineering on my side too! If I shared my sources what would be the fun Tuesday! Have to say I've enjoyed the banter!
