How much did the taxpayers of the SD actually pay to build this? IF the land was donated and a construction grant was giving by the state , now is this mismanaged?
So when Sector G has 300-400 kids in 5-6 years where should we send them to grade school?

I think it cost around 3-4 mil, with the land donated........and partial state construction grants.
I also think that the State monies are use it or lose it types.

Why didn't the SB, who have allegedly known about potential over crowding, build an ES instead of a MS??

Gee, imagine that, planning.

Can I please ask what basis people have for saying the Peterson should be written off before it even opens, other than a new school in a new area isn't full? Is this just someone's random guess, or is there an expert out there that can point to the specifics of something that has been done wrong? I thought the plan was to move Wheatland but for some reason the SB/Admin gave into the foot stomping and pouting, and is probably waiting for the dust to settle from the referendum to make that shift. Maybe it would have been too much for the area to take in light of the referendum, who knows, but if the SB had actually stuck with their plan instead of given in to this community's continual whining and second guessing, they would have saved themselves from the Peterson attack.

I do not believe the middle school problem cropped up overnight. The money should have gone there. Peterson was obviously not a rush. I don't understand the freepass mentality. Excuses, excuses, excuses. When are past mistakes relevent? Peterson isn't even a past mistake, it's a current one.

The big P.S. to this debacle is that 3rd hs or not, boundaries will continue to ebb and flow in the next 10 years as subdivisions ebb and flow. So making Peterson a MS now and then converting it back in 10 when Sector g fills out is very doable. Even @ $10 mill They could convert and reconvert 12 schools with just the 2006 ref dollars alone!!!

If you're convinced that it will build out and there will be a need for Peterson, where will there be room for all of those kids in MS and HS?

Charmant, let's say in 5 years Sector G has 300 kids where do you put them? Before we go converting a ES to a MS, one better have a plan to put kids from Sector G.
I know you say it won't develop, but what if it does what are you going to do with these kids.

SB will be closing schools in ten years as we are built out and resurgence is much slower than new home subdivisions.

I know you say it won't develop, but what if it does what are you going to do with these kids. I am sure the SB has boundary plans in place depending on all of these scenarios. Let us all remember that we own 25 acres on BB that we can build whatever we need today OR Turn Peterson into a MS, wait a few years to see what we need to build on the 25 acre land??? OR build a MS on BB and if need be, use it as an ES. There are other options and boundaries will continue to change.
