I think you might be misinterpreting the issue. It seems a little unfair to assume people want to use the bridge because they feel entitled to go to NVHS. I don't think it's fair to assume that there are people attempting to use the bridge issue to "stay out of WHVS". Until someone here from the Fry community states that as their motivation, I think it's a stretch, and unfair, to make blatant accusations and assumptions on their motivation. This will be my last comment on this issue. But your name says it all, Newbie. You must be new if you are unable to connect the dots. Good luck to the bridge campaigners. My family will happily move on to WVHS because it is what needs to be done to reduce overcrowding. Do I want to move out of NVHS, of course not, it's a great school. But I believe in the big picture. We have a great school district and WVHS will give our kids a great education! As I have said many times, no one likes change. But, in this area change is inevitable. We live in a very transient area and I have yet to meet anyone who's company wants to transfer them to a new city saying no, my kids can walk to their high school so were not moving! I've lived here 20 years and have turned down 3 transfers/promos , including one less than a year ago to Bethesda -- I'd be careful generalizing. I know others who have turned down opportunities to stay here- including some people who are not born and bred Chicago area people. Many of us put our kids welfare above certain other things -which is why we're so ticked over this.

Nice thought, forthekids. My hope is that more people will eventually begin to think like you. Yes, this situation stinks. I feel for all of the unhappy people. I also understand the helplessness that the Watts, Cowlishaw and Fry people must be feeling. After all, the bigger problems lie with Owen (distance) and Petersen (split everything). It would sure look bad to go into the board meeting Tuesday and complain about your issues. How can Watts now complain about their commute when Owen is so much further? The board knew how to silence them alright. How can Fry complain about their distance and split middle schools when both Owen and Petersen have the same thing? Again, too many fires to put out. IMO the big fires are Owen and Petersen and the other fires are not going to get solved in this lifetime. I'm not even sure how the big fires are going to be put out. BB was the better site and there were 2 unhappy schools in that proposal. How can anyone not think that there will be more unhappy schools with this proposal. And I don't see a plan that will EVER reduce the number of unhappy schools back down to 2. If boundaries are played with, it's just going to make different schools unhappy, but there will still probably be 5 unhappy schools when it's all over. quite the ROI for the site change

I have lived here 19 years and as I stated in my post, I have not met anyone personally who has turned down a promotion so their kids didn't have to change school (some of them let their older kids stay behind but the younger ones moved with them). I know plenty of people who have moved and told their kids to buck up and deal with it. I was not generalizing just stating what my first-hand experiences have been. You may have other experiences but they don't negate mine!

Nobody was negating your experiences but with the ! it was like it never happens, which is wrong.

Well, I guess now if given the opportunity, maybe some of these people who are offered transfers will take their companies up on the offer! I didn't say you (or anyone else for that matter) was negating my experience. I just took exception to the comment you made about my "generalizing". I try very hard not to generalize, just to state what my personal experiences have been. With a district as large and diverse as ours, we are all bound to have different experiences. This is what makes America so great!
