This whole thing is a nightmare I can't believe that I am staring at a tweaked version of boundary proposal 6. Only Gombert is green instead of blue and a small section of the SW is blue instead of green. Otherwise, they are identical. JC must be laughing all the way to her (very close) new HS. Wasn't this proposal thrown out 2 years ago because it was suggested that it would be a better proposal if the new HS was located in the north? Well, now it is located in the north, and I don't see how this is so wonderful for them.

So, I gave myself some time to sit back and think about the new boundaries. And unfortunately after 24 hours I am still at a loss. My ES is split to three different middle schools. My sub division has been split in half. We had a middle school within our sub-division, Chrone. And now we are going all the way up to Still. Yeah, Still go check out the ride from Peterson to Still. It conveniently not one of the drive times listed on the map.
Now once the kids get to Still they will have a 50-50 split between MVHS and WVHS. So, let me see we are split at ES and split at MS. We are once again an island. But who cares right? Does not matter if you split the SW up.
There is not a single person on this board that can tell me this is fair or geographically sound. This is complete BS. And again we are a small subdivision (even smaller that we are now split in half) and we will once again get rail roaded by the process.
I know nothing will change next week. No one cares. (obviously) It will require elections to undo this mess.

Brad, it is BS. No other word for it. We are sharing similar tainted drinks.

The Ashwood Park subdivision got screwed at the MS level. The Ashwood Creek subdivision got their MS and NV. In order of the big $crew, could it really have been any different?

No one cares. (obviously) It will require elections to undo this mess. I think a lot of us are doing the same thing- and I find my opinion also has not changed. Ceratin areas were screwed over and putting lipstick on a pig still leaves you with a pig. your commute to Still for MS similar to ours to Hill . All the damn gps maps do not replace real driving and experiences some of us here have acquired over a long period of time. Nothing changes the fact that 3 ES's will travel to the HS furthest from their home.-period ! 18 ES's do not get that shoved down their throat. All the spray charts from Laidlaw do nothing to make that any better. However like you I have come to the conclusion that this is over - and no amount of logic or complaining is going to change a thing. It doesn't matter what we think about anything, whether we think the new WV may not accomplish what they are trying to do, that travel times across the district will hinder parents in some areas from being able particpate in their childs HS experience to the level they would be able to if their school was in the same zip code range, that transferring horrible commutes from one area to another is not a solution ( and extra busses may trim a few minutes off of a bad commute, but they do NOT make that commute shorter. It's all over but the shouting, and I choose not to be a part of that exercise in futility next Tuesday. It is extremely disappointing after 2+ years of very heavy time involvement and emotional investment that this is the outcome. Once BB was gone I knew the end result would be less palatable for most. I knew there would be big time winners and losers once a less central population located site was chosen - I guess I wasn't emotionally ready to be in the loser camp. Elections will not undo the site or the need to move schools further from their home to fill that site. Maybe it could tweak a few boundaries - but it will only be a few months before the school opens - so I doubt it. Also the elections may change part of the SB, but none of the SD Admin.- so I doubt once the boundaries are decided in the next week or so and the land purchase completed that any significant change will occur.. This is it....

The Ashwood Park subdivision got screwed at the MS level. The Ashwood Creek subdivision got their MS and NV. Yeah, I am not exactly expecting the creek to come running to our rescue. Although, I am looking into deactivating their access to the club house. (joking) Trying to keep my sense of humor. The admin has split us in half. Now, what there are maybe 50 families in the park. Not nearly enough to cause the district any problem. They can just keep on drive over us. Why would a single person in my area have an ounce of faith in an administration that would draw these boundaries? And if the board passes them the same could be said of the board.

Had an opportunity to have member(s) of SB from more southern areas of the district but did not show support in vote. Don't cry over spilled milk now.

It's almost like the SB was reading this message board and gave everyone at risk in the boundary decision exactly what they didn't want.
Okay, you there at Tall Grass, next to NV, forget it. Since you complained about WV since your so close to NV, go far away to WV.
And you, in Ashwood, well, since you complained about WV and since you're associated with Macom, you get the crazy splits and a commute.
As for you in Owen, Watts, since distance is such an issue for you, check this out--you get the farthest commute there is.
Of course we can't forget the Steck area, willing to take a hit and commute for achievement balance, you get to go to school with 3 of the 4 lowest performing schools. (Though, I'm okay with that, I did harp on achievement balance.)
I'm sure I'm forgetting many.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, because I really want WV...but now that people have taken some time to see how bad these boundaries are, I wonder if we as a group from all of these areas could come up with a true and mature compromise. Not pitting neighborhood against neighborhood, but really looking at what is best for the district. Is pain for everyone really the best solution? If we could, and rally some support within our neighborhoods, do you think the SB would listen?
At this point, we're stuck with the site, we're stuck with these boundaries. I doubt they're going to change anything if the boundary comments go the way they did last time. But if some sort of united group could be established, maybe they would listen.
I'm probably crazy, but seriously, so much about these boundaries just doesn't make sense. It's like they didn't know what 'maximize' and 'minimize' meant.

The community will have another opportunity to have a voice....it is called the next referendum. I hope that we don't allow ourselves to be hoodwinked once again. Not out of the realm of reason that MV may not have any faculty in the building if tensions continue to rise. And I think that they are just beginning. Rather unfortunate.

Steckmom, you are absolutely right!! We all need to come together and let the SB know that these boundaries are not good for the WHOLE district. I can't believe what they did to Peterson. It is soooooo political and soooo wrong to be that mad at Macom to screw with kids education. I believe that is as low as this administration can go. We need to show up big at the meeting.

All of Peterson or just Ashwood Park doesn't like the boundaries? The only change from BB (for Peterson) is the area south of 111th now goes to NV. Ashwood Park did get screwed at MS level.

All of Peterson or just Ashwood Park doesn't like the boundaries? That is the magic Bob. The old Wheatland (now closed ES) crowd of Pet goes to Schullen and then NVHS. The south of 111th go to Pet - Chrone - NVHS. But for some reason the south of 103rd, west of 248 and north of 111th were sliced out. So there will be no coalition of the willing down here. But that makes it okay right?
