The way I read MM comment he did not call WV an albatross, the board wanted to prevent it from becoming an albatross. There are many posters on this board from WV, some from the "lowest scoring" schools. I just think it is hurtful and unnecessary.

I agree Sushi, Lance is another great candidate for either position. No politics, just does his job and does so very well. Lance is not just another "great candidate". He is known as a marketing genius as someone that promotes school spirit like no other can. Just my opinion, but, he's a perfect candidate for the "albatross". My fingers are crossed. ETA: From what I know of Lance, he'll turn the Albatross into the most beautiful Swan in the district. He's that good!!! Sounds like a good guy....IMO, we need this type of person to take over our SB....we need someone who can pull this district back together and stop the madness. |

Love this!!! this district does need someone to pull us all together and stop the madness. I'm so sick of hearing that Naperville is the cause of the friction. That's a bunch of crap! as someone who has spent most of his 30 years in corporate America in management, problems in the 'trenches' usually is the result of a lack of solid leadership -- there is no exception around us right now. |

Those of us with kids still in school especially care about raising the scores of each school. That's why we focus on the achievement gap...so we can eliminate it by lifting the lower scores up with everyone else. It is not about hiding the lowest scores and pretending they are not there. The residents of the lower scoring areas also want to raise the scores and should not feel defensive or insulted when the subject is brought up. |

Funny thing, when I voted in 06 for more space at the middle school, high school level, the "albatross" of WVHS did not have an impact on my vote. In fact M2 made sure of that fact. Just ask him for the "last minute email he sent the Fry community. What a shame. |

I heard today that another possible candidate for new principal is Lance Fuhrer. He is head of the English Department at NV; he was also WE swimteam coach for a long time. He would make a great principal as well. I have never met Truckenbrod. Lance is not the head of the English Department anymore - he's been an assistant principal for about 3 years now. He is very good, but there are several assistant principals at both schools who would make excellent candidates. Another one at NV is Mark Truckenbrod - he is the associate principal, and was at WV before. Also, there are some excellent in-house minority candidates at both schools. Whoever is appointed at either school will be very good, but it will still be interesting to see which direction(s) the district decides to go. |
