It is not right to have ONE area change their high school, AND middle school , AND have their middle school split. It is not right when there are other areas totally unaffected by any of this that are geographically positioned to make a move as well.

I have never said a bad word about WV, EVER. I have said I would be happy to go there if all these boundaries made sense and I too am very happy we don't have to start up a new school. I actually feel better about WV then MV, but this is a NEW site and boundaries need to be made that are right for the site. Just to pull the same schools that got pulled last time is just plain lazy. I do have the ability to feel for others and I feel for Owen, Watts, Cowl, and mostly feel for Peterson. It is just WRONG!!!!

The board needs to address what is SO WRONG with the administration's proposal. I've seen ten other proposals that meet the set criteria better than what the administration put out.

Specifically addressing:

Peterson's multiple splits (the most aggregious of all)
Watt's commute
Owen's commute
Middle school splits
Achievement balancing
WVHS overcrowding during the years JR.s and SRs. will be in attendance. WVHS will be seriously stuffed if the school does open in 09. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS FOR WVHS 09-10 and 10-11.

I've asked the administration to justify how what they put out to the public is better than many other proposals I've seen. They can't do it, refuse to do so.

Let's face it. WE, Fry and Petersen are screwed because of their location...not because anyone hates them or the board wants revenge on Macom, etc. They are west and WV is west and to manipulate things around for them usually doesn't make sense because, let's face it, Fry is closer to WV than anyone else besides WE and Welch. The only sensible people to pull next are WElch or Tamarack. However, if you substitute Welch for Fry, you are not eliminating the middle school split which is what I am sensing you guys don't like. Now if it was even possible to switch Fry with Tamarack area and send them to WV with the rest of Petersen (I don't think the numbers work there) then you have your Scullen as a NV feeder but Crone as mixed. That would solve your problem!!! But then the Tamarack people have just been asked to move from their current school and go to a mixed MS. So all that has been done is to remove your pain and put it on someone else. That doesn't fix this mess. I wish I saw an easy answer and I don't. Same with the northern folks

I think it is the "double whammie" that upsets many... Being removed from your existing High school AND being put into a split middle school situation.

Perhaps if they could allow those changing high schools to have no splits at the middle school level AND have the middle school splits fall on those that are happy to stay at their current high school or those that are happy to attend a new high school.

Again, the proposal asks TOO MUCH of TOO FEW.
